Re: Will we run in the rain 2/18 & 2/19?

And don't forget you will have to work in the rain, too. So bring an appropriate rain suit, cheap ones are available. Spare shoes and socks are a good idea, too. Is that guy Rudy, you know the red-head, going to be there? If he is, look him up for foul weather supplies. Rudolph the Red Knows Rain G...

AutoX in the rain is a hoot.

Well, unless you are in a convertible that is.

Points Card Data? How to transmit?

Greetings, My son and I ran Sunday and found we had to get Points Cards online, so we ran 652/625 temp numbers in HS. The Points Card web page says there is a link ( Notes to Solo Membership Chairman ) to add Driver and Car data in PayPal. We could not find that link anywhere, and paid the money reg...

Please cross Patrick McSwain off the Practice list. Stupid clutch hydraulics.

Sorry, and thanks.

As of today, it's been "waiting for rail" for 8 weeks.

I think there are too many unsold units at dealers, so they are holding them.

If I wanted to be competitive, I'd have to fire the driver. :D I'm just pointing out that your choices aren't limited to OE equipment. You might shop some of the tires I listed and find that there is a cheaper option there (I haven't looked). Plus runflats suck monkey balls. Yeah, but what if they ...

Re: OE Tire Rule?

Probably the best idea is to just run the old glazed tires until I wear them out. It's just for fun anyhow. I just hate running glazed tires on the street.

Re: OE Tire Rule?

The 2010 tires are TW 220 runflats. The 2012 tires are TW 80 runflats. What bites is the 2012 tires are cheaper by $140 each. So a 2012 car can run with TW 80 in regionals. But the earlier years can't. It does seem strange that older cars are handicapped because tires improve over time. And while I ...

OE Tire Rule?

Per 13.C.1 : " Any tire which is OE on a car eligible for Street Category may be used on that car in Regional Solo® events . OE tires must meet all requirements of Section 13.3 to be eligible for National Solo® events." It appears that on my car, tires changed during the model years. Are O...

Re: Chevy, oh Chevy! Why hast thou art forsaken me?

This is the second time GM has "lost" a car I ordered. In 2002, I ordered a Camaro SS 1LE to replace my 2000 SS. Same situation. It was built. And after that nobody at GM could give me an answer as to when it would ship. In 2002, the 1LE car never arrived. Nobody at GM could tell me the tr...

Re: Chevy, oh Chevy! Why hast thou art forsaken me?

Sidebar - If you are looking for a red no-ac Z/28 (only 5 built), then call Win Chevrolet (Carson) and ask. It's still "in transit", but only 7% of the cars are no AC units, so the dealers don't want them on their lot. Note though, nobody at Win or GM HQ knows when (or if) it will ship. It...

Chevy, oh Chevy! Why hast thou art forsaken me?

Ordered a 2014 Camaro Z/28 in January. As we approach August, no car. Still rotting in a field in Canada. Units at dealers are marked up, and I don't pay over MSRP for anything. I finally pulled the plug on it yesterday. Sadness. So I took a look for another car, and today I pick up a car from the e...

Probably not related, just medical thoughts: Somethings I've observed before, as have others. Too restrictive of a full face worn with a neck sock can cause you to faint, mine was a Impact Champ with nomex neck sock. While the special rules required me to have my visor down and restricted frontal fl...

Condolences out to her friends and family. From media images, the paved lot was surrounded by fixed post and cable barriers, like you would find at a park. This is where the investigation markers were. The cable did not appear to be under tension. Nor was there any frontal damage to the kart. A tall...

Re: Airbag deployment.

The black box is going to record it. The airbag is what trips the "store recording" subroutine in the black box. Because cars have stability control in them now, it's going to know you turned it off, and how many g's the sensors saw, and what position the wheels, brakes, and throttle were ...

Airbag deployment.

I'm reading where some late model cars are deploying their side airbags from lateral g's without collision. AutoX, figure 8's, drifting, and similar have triggered this.

Is this a legit concern? It's about $3k to replace your side bags, and is not normally covered by insurance or warranty.

Re: Trimming Fiberglass Safety

Use a shop vac while cutting. Water mist sprayer works good too. Keeps dust down. Carbide tools will last longer, fiberglass goes though cutting tools quickly. Have extras. Dull tools make more dust, and get hot. Fiberglass has polymer base, grinder is not good. Sharp cutting tools. Fine pitch. Carb...
