Re: Sway bar bind / Polyurethane bushings HELP!
Interesting Fred, do you recall what brand you had before you changed them? I've installed the Flyin Miata PU kit and would have a hard time imagine these bind up the A-arms if installed properly, but I've seen enough now to believe about anything. Hopefully it isn't a problem as they are already on...

Sway bar bind / Polyurethane bushings HELP!
Hey guys, so I was just reading an article for an STS miata build and skimmed across the following: "While sizing the bars is important, mounting them for optimal performance is critical. Particular attention must be paid to removing any tendency for bind. This is especially important when uret...

Re: 1993 Miata Spring Rates
Didn't realize that Bill. The suspension felt pretty stiff to me compared to what I'm used to, but this is the first care I've actually had modified springs on. Suppose there is no setup that will accommodate the bumps and be great on autocross since the nature of the two are essentially opposites. ...

Re: 1993 Miata Spring Rates
Will the car be hitting the bump stops even with the Flyin Miata rear shock mounts that allow 1.5" more travel? Not sure if I mentioned those are installed on the car. I do tend to drive the cars I own very hard and the car will be seeing a lot of heavy cornering / transitions. I don't want to ...

Re: 1993 Miata Spring Rates
Chris, what wheels and tires will you be autocrossing on, and where do you place your priority between street comfort and autocross competitiveness? For the time being I am running on Kosei K1s in a 15x7 size with 205/50/15 Direzza Z2 tires. As for where I place my priority between street comfort a...

Re: 1993 Miata Spring Rates
I got my info from George Doganis, multi Nat champ (in a Miata) Steve Thanks for the info Steve, makes me wonder if the max is 500, but the way it feels with 350 is the "max" per driver feel. Since I'm running the standard rates of 350 and 250 I guess I'm in the clear either way. Apprecia...

Re: 1993 Miata Spring Rates
Lots of pentrating oil. And anti-cease next time. Depends on your tolerance for $$$. I don't find the sleeves to be overly expensive each. Jay W I'll give them a call when I get a chance guys, appreciate it. Right now the ground control sleeves are stuck on the KYB AGX shocks and we are having a he...

Re: Allow me to Re-introduce myself
Haha, that was crazy Anthony. Yeah I do remember, we were drifting Decker like a couple goons and then you hit some big rock with your wheel. My car didn't have power door locks so I locked them! We had to drive all the way to my house and the car was still there when we got back! Can't believe no o...

I'll give them a call when I get a chance guys, appreciate it. Right now the ground control sleeves are stuck on the KYB AGX shocks and we are having a hell of a time separating them. Very little information found online, does anyone have a trick to doing this? We have a 20 ton press, but are hesita...

Re: 1993 Miata Spring Rates
I've read that the max is 400, the max is 450, the max is 500, the max is 500 and now the max is 350. Does anyone know this for sure or are these scientific guestimations? As I stated the car will see double duty as a street car and I drive a lot of back roads with decent bumps mid corner, and some ...

Re: 335i Vs Miata - Thoughts?
I believe it's a torsen. I would not be willing to put the stock clutch back in, but if I did where would that place me? I'll be happy if I'm driving it in the next week. Just got a call from my mechanic saying the upper shock mounts are not sized for the Konis so we're going to see if we can get sp...

1993 Miata Spring Rates
In the process of switching to Ground Controls with Koni Sport (yellows) on the '93 Miata and wanted to know what a good spring rate for the car would be given I do a lot of street driving / autocross / back roads with some good sized bumps. I'm reading the "standard" spring rate for konis...

Re: 335i Vs Miata - Thoughts?
Thanks for the input Craig, since the next autocross I'll be going to is Camarillo on the 14th I won't be able to bring both of them. I'm planning on doing a comparison video for a car review website a friend is starting so for sure if I bring them both out you are more than welcome to have a go. I ...

335i Vs Miata - Thoughts?
Getting anxious while the Miata is in the shop and wanted to ask a question before I do a real comparison of the two. What would you expect to be quicker given the following modifications: 1993 Miata with Direzza Z2 tires, koni yellows, eibach race springs, polyurethane bushings, hawk HPS brake pads...

Re: Allow me to Re-introduce myself
I'll see if I can get them to run some time Adam. Some guys like to work on cars and pride themselves on doing great work, other guys like to only race and we see every mix in between in autocross, karting, etc. Would be cool to get them on the track. Maybe if we both bother them enough they'll catc...

Re: Allow me to Re-introduce myself
Adam- It was at the June autocross, yes. It was .053 away from the top spot. Lots of talented guys showed up that day. A few people who were faster in practice hit cones and that opened up the door for me. I'm really curious how it would handle on A6s of V710s but they are so expensive! Part of the ...

Re: Allow me to Re-introduce myself
Thanks for the heads up Craig. Your name actually seems familiar thinking back. My goal with this car isn't really to compete in any class, it's just to go out and have fun and try and see how far I can push the car with the stock engine, focusing only on handling, balance and tires. After I'm satis...

Allow me to Re-introduce myself
Hey everyone, After a long hiatus from autocross and a venture into the world of karting I've decided to come back. I purchased a 1993 Miata in white with 154,000 miles. Used to have the teal 2002 Miata that Tom Berry sold a long time ago. The new car will keep the stock 1.6L and has the following m...
