Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.
Very generally, I think there are two proposed solutions 1. Go to extremes with the PAX, either very high or none at all. 2. Consider more modest allowable modifications. Possible modest PAX adjustment. And there are two perceived rationales for HCS 1. Some guys somewhere far away who wanted to race...

From Doug Gill at the SCCA National office: “I’m not the Solo Events Board, …………because the SEB does not maintain the Heritage Classic Rules. This is being done in-house here in the SCCA National office.…..Solo Rules section 13.4 is not a part of Heritage Classic. The Heritage Classic Rules basical...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.
First off, My car sounds like it will be regulated out of its class due to my wheel and suspension setup. It's just that my car was set up for a long-bygone era (2019 haha) when wheel size was unrestricted in HCS. If that happens, it happens. No hard feelings. My interest is in keeping the competiti...

HCS-1 (Street, '74 and earlier) Years: 1955 - 1974 PAX: HCS 0.794 Cars: Same as HCS plus Howlett's list. Modifications: Same as HCS. Possible turbo restrictions or wheel restrictions. If the HCS PAX was .900 would it change your opinion? Doug, I feel that your proposed 0.870 index does a good job o...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.
Thanks for listing some proposals, Doug. We always need some framework to start with and it's good to see your thoughts in print. I'm also glad we all seem to agree that waiting until 2021 to make changes is best. Since everyone else is doing it, here are some thoughts - or a proposal if you will. H...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.
Perhaps I'm mistaken about the 911 exclusion from some regions. The Old Dominion Region SCCA excludes the 914/6 (and a TVR plus some others). That may be what I was remembering.

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.
Doug, A 911 could certainly be prepped to be extremely fast, especially a turbocharged and fuel injected 74 model. At least one region actually excludes the 911, probably for this very reason. Adding US cars means a turbocharged Corvair with enough mods could yield the same results. A good reason to...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.
Anthony, It was nice chatting with you at practice Saturday. As others have pointed out, and as the 2016 HC rules state, the purpose of Heritage Classic HCS (the race class is mostly unused here in SoCal) is to enable enthusiasts of early sports carts to enjoy competition with similar cars and a com...

Found a set cheap.
Now then, anybody got a set of wheels?
17 x 9"
5 x 4.75 bolt pattern
4.75" backset
... Joking. Nobody has that

WTB: Pair of Used 17" Tires
I'm interested in a pair of used tires. A set is fine as well if you don't want to break them up. I'm mostly interested for testing purposes. 255/40 or 265/40 would be awesome. 245 would be fine as well.

Re: Autonomous Car Ethics
Great article. Love the term, "meat-driven cars." I may start finding ways to always walk in a group as autonomous cars start targeting individuals in accidents instead of groups haha.
The comments are hilarious!

Re: New to SoCal from AZ
Let's try this again. The rod bearing has been replaced and I've been carefully driving the car, change the oil, inspect, repeat. I drove the car 75 miles on the freeway Saturday so hopefull I'll see you all at the next event.

Re: New to SoCal from AZ
Its a small club but i dont think i know a Mark Wright. Inspection is going well. #1 rod bearing was worn out. Im not sure why. It doesnt look like anything went through it. Maybe just miles or abuse. So far all the journals are unscathed and in tolerance. I'm hoping to put a set of rod bearings in ...

Re: New to SoCal from AZ
OH! I see now that the car moves to F if it's going to race as a street prepared car. Thanks for the change! It doesn't matter at the moment, unfortunately. There was a slight ticking noise as I drove the car the last couple days. The tick got louder and changed with throttle input on the way to the...

Re: New to SoCal from AZ
Hey, Chad! Funny to have a Corvair that's newer than a Camaro... I am registered in Street Prepared. I've got headers and a Holley 390 so I can't get into stock. The Corvair is an HS car so I guess that means I'm in H Street Prepared? Unlike a Camaro, and most other American iron, the Corvair doesn'...

Re: New to SoCal from AZ
Thanks, KJ!
George, when I was still racing Mazdas, I used to get regularly beat by a well prepped late Corvair. Drove me nuts! Hopefully I can eventually get this one into that kind of shape. It's very rough now. We shall see.

New to SoCal from AZ
Hey! I moved to Socal (Pomona) a few months ago and have been feverishly putting together a 69 Corvair for autocross. It's been running for about a week and a half. Cross your fingers for me! I've raced autocross many times before (in AZ and in Eugene, OR) but not much for the last 5 years or so. I'...
