Re: XEV/XS Rules

For me, I would like to see 2 things: 1. Does XEV follow CST rules as originally posted (and voted on?)? 2. Better definition of what CST is. Summarizing the Supplemental Regulations: - CST follows the rules of CSM but must run 140+ tires (I thought this went to 200?) - Vehicles eligible for CSM mu...

XEV/XS Rules

So when did XEV allow for stripped out interiors? The rules for XA say that isn't legal, and the rules for XEV are even more strict, more in line with ST classes. The rules in XA explicitly state, "Interior and exterior must have a “finished” look (e.g., carpeted, upholstered, painted, coated)....

Re: Guidance Going Into 2nd Event

What everyone else is great advice. Definitely read those two books QV recommended.

Beyond that I'd recommend trying both sim racing and karting as two ways to learn car control and racing lines with even less risk at stake.

Re: Next event?

It appears that many counties are starting to relax restrictions on "outdoor" activities as long as they are "non-contact", allows for social distancing, and uses face covers. I think our sport fits this bill. Any thoughts on when our next event might be? One example is: https:/...

Re: 2020 Schedule

They may want flexibility come the summer. Might be a backlog of events. Might make more storing unsold cars. Or staging the National Guard. Likely true, but also very likely we will still be locked down around that time. Easily could become three months from the beginning of the lockdown, which wo...

Re: Extreme street, should it replace CST?

I'm definitely leaning towards using the XS classes and running one indexed class of XS-A and XS-B together. How much does your car weigh Jacob? I think your setup is literally the perfect example of why XS class exists. A sweet ride, not built exclusively for solo, but for the owners enjoyment at ...

Wouldn't be surprised if the 265s on 19s rubbed pretty badly. Hopefully the 255s will be fine.

The shop is in Burbank. Werks 2 motorsport. Give them a call and mention my name.

Re: Extreme street, should it replace CST?

I'm not sure. I think the questions that need to be asked are really geared towards people not currently running CST (either in another class or new members). How would it affect the populations of the other classes? It doesn't do much good if practically everyone decides to join it. It also doesn't...

Re: Setup for Laura’s M2

Alright BMW fans and setup wizards. I got Simanyi saying don’t mess with the tire size, and Yom suggesting moving up to 265/285 on stock. I’m not ready to build a shed to house a new set of BBS and go to 18’s like Jacob. So for this next set of tires I’m thinking we should try the 265285 on the Bri...

Re: Recommendations for tire shop in Mid-City LA?

Fyi, just found a mobile tire service that is pretty great. Run by a former rally driver apparently.

https://www.ziptire.net/

$25 a tire, so $100 total. Just had them do a set of hoosiers for me. Quick and good work. Super convenient too. I'll definitely be using them from now on.

I frequently use Crestview service center (just west of Pico and Doheny) since they are close and do a good job. About $100 for all four last I recall.

Re: Kia Stinger GT AWD or RWD?

I can't imagine it would be all that competitive if in F street. At 4157 lb for the AWD 6 cylinder version you have nearly a 600lb disadvantage over say an E92 M3, and less power at the same time. I think the RWD variant is quite a bit lighter, so it's probably about equal performance wise between t...

Re: Proposed CST pax modifier adjustment

How about the pax is actually correct. The rule aside from street tires is that is has to be "capable" of being registered, so want I see some active areo sucker cars that weight 800lbs. If someone really took advantage of the rules I think the pax would make more sense. In any case its n...

Proposed CST pax modifier adjustment

I've been meaning to bring this up for a while, but wasn't sure the best way to do so. Anyway, I'd like to suggest the PAX modifier for CST be changed to something more appropriate given the factors in play, including but not limited to the tires in use, the cars generally run by CST participants, a...

I agree with Porta: The "ST" in "CST" stands for "Street Tire" and we should stick to it (literally) being a "run what you brung" class ON street tires. BUT if we do change the rules to a 100 treadwear minimum for CST, we keep it at that and go no lower...kee...
