Re: Call for Stories/Info on the History of CSCC

In that I took a nearly 40 year sabbatical, from 1967 to 2004, my memories are from the time before SCCA/CSCC. The avents were called Slaloms and an HP Sprite ruled the day. The Shelby Slalom snakes and the Gulstrand Corvette very seldom beat rhe dark maroon/red Bugeye of some young kid named Eliott...

Re: Post Car Classing Help Questions Here!

Would it be G-Prepared instead of E-Prepared? I believe the Prelude falls under G-stock. Kyle, your car was built to your taste---not to SCCA rules---therfore, you need to either change the car and/or tires to be competitive in a SCCA class. EP is tough, here you must run against purpose built (to ...

Hey, Firemen, thank you very much!!

Everyone that helped put out the fire a really big THANK YOU. I tried to find a way to blame it on QV, but to no avail--It was me... I didn't center the valve cover gasket and oil was forced out and on to the headers.... The good news---no major mechanical or structural damage. Some of the rubber ho...

Re: WTBorrow-a tow dolly....

A DM Ranchero? Really? With the Ecoboost Ebay: 330666794792 It goes to EM----but should be one fast tow vehicle. The Ranchero weighs 2900 with the 289, so, I would guess about 2800 with the Ecoboost. Probably 25 mpg and 0-60 in about 5 sec. Now where am I going to find the extra 10 grand---QV the c...

U-Haul wants a pre-inspection of both the tow and towed vehicles...the Ranchero is in parts (alot of parts) and can't be inspected. D...

Christos, you will not have to run by yourself. You will go to a Bump class, by the rules, and with your power off the line, it could be to your advantage.

Re: Post Car Classing Help Questions Here!

Colby, Jayson's right. But, another choice would be CSM, local class but you can use R-Comp tires. In my opinion street tires on a higher horsepower car is not much fun. I started with a 98 Mustang Cobra in FS bought some Falken's to run SK1----lasted 3 runs. Since you have already modified the car,...

Re: Post Car Classing Help Questions Here!

Thanks. Although I don't understand the rules or the way you make decisions on car classes, I think I understand the reasoning a bit better. The SD guys put me in SUX; No one here has mentioned that class yet? There is still the problem of no Markings on 10" tires that show tread wear rating, ...

Re: Post Car Classing Help Questions Here!

Steve, there is a yahoo group, SCCA-DMOD-EMOD, that most of the DM and EM drivers from around the country use to discuss their cars and such. There are a couple of high HP minis that show up at nationals and the guys frequent the group. If you want to compete in SCCA events not just local CSM or CST...

Re: Post Car Classing Help Questions Here!

Steve, IIRC the older Mini's, that I've seen, were using 13" rims. I have several sets of 13" 4 on 4 that should fit, I think... You can test fit them in April at the practice or champ event if my car is still running and not on the trailer heading home when you are there...  Don

I thought the course was well marked but that is likely because I wasn't going fast enough. I would not that the course designer DNF'd.
