Re: St George Event

I love St George area and I do attend an occasional LVR event. But late June? I'm not crazy about triple digit temperatures.

Mar/Apr or Oct/Nov and you've got a deal.

Re: Drones at events

Heh, that strikes me as just about as likely as Amazon drone-delivering boxes to my front porch. Related content -- I just flew my new hexacopter first time this morning. Sweet. Big. Still in one piece. And someone :ugeek: was seen flying a small quad at the SCCA national rallycross this weekend. (P...

Re: Drones at events

Bottom line is the SCCA dictate is poorly considered and written. Appears they've gotten all caught up in this huge Drone Scare perpetrated by the ignorant media. It's the political correctness of the thing that irritates me. The media doesn't know a drone from a kite. Scca can require that we don't...

Re: Drones at events

How ironic: "drone(n): A drone is someone who follows an ideology or some other form of idealization blindly and uncritically." BTW, according to the FAA the quads you've seen are not legally classed as "drones". I own several not-drones. Don't take them to events however, so don...

could any one tell me if the GCR is the scca rule book? im trying to sign up for a points event and it ask for a page number from the GCR, im guessing to see where I got the vehicle classification. What event are you trying to register for? None of our (autocross) events ask such a question. The GC...

I'm pretty sure it would be a minority opinion to cut to three counting runs. But you can DIY. Just take out an early cone on your last run. And tell people ahead of time so you don't wimp out.

Re: 2014 Lone Pine Time Trials

You really requiring Snell 05 SA per the flyer? Very few autocrossers own SA helmets.
I assume that's wrong as the registration page lists Snell 95 as acceptable. I assume that's also wrong. Certainly one of them is.

I was under the impression that all members were supposed to go by real first and last names. Did we get away from that policy or am I remembering it wrong? Re: 2014 San Diego Dates

Do we have a method for identifying separate lines for registered, non-registered and work sign-up? I think we had pin-on signs on the canopy but no canopy this time. We kept pulling people out of the work sign-up line who hadn't registered yet. I was thinking signs in plastic protectors stapled on ...

Hey James ... if it's so remote and requires clearance ... why not the open expanses of El Toro, ex-Marine air field where many automotive events are held ... our favorite lot. Re: 2014 Street Classes

As this is a transition year, we looked at the available data and made the decision to go with three indexed classes for the new street classes. If these classes remain popular and continue to increase in size, we'll more than likely go to individual classes next year. Either way, as the old saying...

Re: 2014 Street Classes

So just hypothetically, if you could choose to have eight classes with one entry each, or a paxed class of eight...you would go for the individual classes?

If you buy into that non-realistic example, then it's just a matter of where you choose to put the line.

I don't think it should be a points event but how about this? Limited entry "fun" event, no early runs, run in conjunction with an existing weekend event. AAA wants us out by 10. Dunno El Toro's rules. So just keep it down to a couple hours. With no problems you should be able to get 250 r...

I'm always skeptical of adding yet another new class. But I just looked at the last San Diego results. It's already a big class and does not seem to be built from cross-overs from other classes.

Top 3 were a Mustang II, a Chevelle and a Falcon. Nice

Proper radio procedure can be dealt with. Master radio just needs to insist on it -- repeatedly. Readable numbers can never be dealt with. We know this because we talk about it year after year and nothing ever happens. Clear evidence of impossibility. And when you hand out way sub-standard numbers f...
