Re: March 2018 Practice & Event

I'm stuck trying to register. There's a new requirement to pick a work assignment, but when I drill down the options there's no place to actually select one (there's a pull down for "Second Choice"). Since its a required selection the system won't let me register. Edit: I found it. The wor...

Re: tire sizing and load index (H Street)

Get the better tires. Tires meant for what we do will actually last longer because they don't blister and chunk. This means the tires others are using, not something that 'claims' to be a racing street tire. You can fudge a lot in weight ratings. That's more about cruising on the freeway and fatigui...

Re: Ride from UCLA to Crows ProSolo

If he's never done a ProSolo, try really, really hard to get there early enough to get practice starts in.
They're not hard, but a little intimidating and best to clear those nerves before wasting valid runs.

I'm sure someone here will have a seat.

Re: 2017 Event Run Time Statistics

More than RPH factor in. Number of drivers in the group and number of runs. Plus with this form of RPH, shortening between group downtime won't shorten work groups. To compensate for not having good workers on course, we increase group size which drives up work time quickly. Also, getting RPH up can...

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

1) No we offered free fun runs which were announced in advanced, where people took between 6-8 more runs. So between 10-12 total. Offering 10-12 runs for $35 is even better than our 10-12 runs for $80 on a practice day. Which we sell out. PCA also sells out with their equivalent 12 run format. Can ...

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

I'm going to point out the people who should really be voting in this poll aren't going to. Event format/efficiency is really about appealing to the casual competitor. The casual competitor is what really swings our numbers. If we make it hard, they don't show, make it easy and they do. The hard cor...

It's been more than 12 months since any club other than casoc and scnax have hosted an event. Ergo they are the only active clubs in Cal Club Solo Autox. Other clubs are welcome to give input but as the supps are written they aren't entitled to votes. Co-hosting counts. E-board events seem co-hoste...

It's SCCA risk management and Insurance rules. The RX program tried to change their limit to 10, but were quickly slapped and recalled the change.

I did the same with my accord a decade ago.. 225 Hoosiers in front 205 v700 in the back.. Trouble with mixing tires is they typically change differently with heat. This specific case I can see the hoosiers being super sticky cold, then fade as the V700s get good, i.e. your rotation characteristics ...

Re: The March Events Are Now Open For Registration

I believe it's the new "Early/Late" pre-reg structure that's catching people. Prices/policies have been the same for better part of a decade, now there's a change mid-season. Also because of the consistency most people have waited until the last week to pre-reg, which if they didn't read t...

Pre-registration is open until tomorrow night for both events. After that, you can walk up, but it'll cost you a little more. Both days are light on attendance, so we're looking at getting a TON of runs. Saturday's Versus AutoX currently has almost equal Miatas and AWD Subarus on the list. While the...
