Re: 2018 Event Statistics

Not that it's going to be changed.... but... the problem actually starts by calling them "fun" runs. It implies a carefree jaunt of wild abandonment, i.e., conefest! Perhaps a more pointed statement about staying sane at the fun run drivers meeting is called for....... :? :t...

Re: 2018 Event Statistics

one of the dnf's in the first group was me after I spun in the finish and was backwards in the finish shoot. I decided to just exit the course rather that 5 point turn and slow down the event. I would say a large number of the dnf's were because the course was challenging, not because we all got lo...

Re: 2018 Event Statistics

Thanks for that, Anthony. Interesting numbers. Don't shoot me, but the next logical step would be to find what sections those DNFs came from. I'm only curious from an SSS point of view. The changes I made were first and foremost for worker safety. But I wouldn't mind plugging holes elsewhere just to...

Re: 2018 Event Statistics

I find these stats after the events every helpful. Another category I'd like to see is a breakdown group by group. I don't know how much extra work that would be, though. And here's why I'd ask for that: There were an unusually high number of DNFs. I ran in first group so I'm not sure how that went ...

Re: Tire Mounting Place

pinching fat tires on skinny rims
That used to be my criteria for tire places, not many are able to do that. But I finally gave up on the concept after seeing no real advantage to it, at least for a camber challenged car. Now all i care about is just some decent folks to deal with.

Tire Mounting Place

So all the tire places I've used in central OC have gone by the wayside. Any recommendations for the HB/Newport/CM area? Seems most of the tire places change management as often as a runner changes socks. And it's never for the better.

Re: 2018 Event Statistics

Couple of thoughts about spacing starts..... As starter in 2nd group, I took Bill's advice and tried for 17 second intervals. As everyone should know, it's always an approximation. Some people go on your signal, some take an additional few seconds to "ready" themselves (???) and some aren'...

Re: Honoring John Edwards

OMG, he just did some work for me. I saw him in the shop just about a month ago. He was just fine. This is just awful. He was a hell of a guy. I am so saddened at this......

RIP, John.

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

Yes, this has wondered a bit but still related to improving the overall experience and time commitment. Ultimately every discussion comes back down to getting and keeping new members. So... One thing I'm trying to do is present ideas outside the box, disruptive ideas. Sometimes it's good to start fr...

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

I'm just throwing out ideas..... Focusing too much on millennials was kinda my point... the CAM drivers are a good example of new customers. I bailed on BMWCCA a long time ago, when the Moons stopped running it. Their events became just a channel of cones and not much fun, with nothing to be learned...

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

If I may.... stick my neck out...of the box.... It might be useful to take a step back and look at this from a bigger perspective, and think about a real paradigm shift. There are two points of view at work here - one from a club perspective and one from a business perspective. And two groups of peo...

Re: Cordless Impact

If you do an on-line search for best tested cordless impact the Milwaukee 2767-22 – Gen 2 usually comes out on top. But...... it's also stupid expensive. The DeWALT DCF899P2 is rated a "most Bang for the $" and both will break loose any lug/stud. ( you still need a torque wrench  ) ...

Re: Cordless Impact

I have the Makita 9v impact that I used for years while I changed tires at events. I no longer do that so haven't used it for quite a while. It does make things go a little faster but a 9v system doesn't have the torque to break free lugs/studs or take them to proper torque when putting lugs/studs o...

Re: December Events Open for Registration - New Format for Sunday Championship

From an SSS prospective..... I would caution against going too light on key positions in fun runs. Gate is mandatory as is an SSS being there. But there needs to be a "Voice of God" position that has an active overview, and control, of what's going on. That could be a person in the motorho...

If you do Yutes Tom, I believe the only parents would be David Barrish, Robert Baltazar, Mike Nakata and Will Kalman. Robert, Mike, and Will are very experienced and can help with how we have been separating grid, spacing the karts, and the latest high points in tech. Which is why I don't mind doin...
