There will be 3 Johns (actually 5 if you count the two bolted to the floor) in the shop.

I'm sure you can talk about anything except politics, religion, race, sexual preference, and why Steve likes Teal colored Hondas (I guess that's covered under sexual preference).I can't really answer your questions since I'm not sure what I'm allowed to talk about,

Re: Legality of racing seat
It might be legal but its probably a stupid idea. How much longitudinal load is that seat designed to take in a rear impact? How much lateral load is that seat designed to take in a side impact? How well is the back reinforcement for the shoulder harness? Its designed for roll coasters, not cars. Sa...

Re: Can a high compression engine be Streetable?
Marshall is right, but immediate throttle response can be an advantage if the the throttle is setup with enough throw and the driver has good control over his/her right foot. At the cornering limit most cars are steered with the throttle so a more sensitive and quicker reacting throttle (engine) wil...

FS: Featherlite 3110 Open Trailer - SOLD
2000 Featherlite 3110 17' 6" all aluminum open car trailer. I've added an aluminum tire rack and a tall aluminum tool box. Total trailer weight is about 1,500 with a 7,500 total load capacity. Two year old Goodyear tires and a good spare. Has loading lights with a battery box (and a dead batter...

Re: End Link Question ...
You've got one critical flaw with you reasoning. Under braking you will get substantial parallel wheel travel and get diagonal weight transfer with non equal sway bar arms usually right at turn in. Whether its significant or not is a different question. We discussed that and came to the conclusion ...

Re: End Link Question ...
Seems like you want the same leverage on both sides. Otherwise, when you go over a bump with both wheels, it will twist the bar and transfer some suspension force from one side of the car to the other. Normally, on a both-wheel bump, the bar should MOVE, but not TWIST. Years ago I spent an hour on ...

Re: Can A Slightly Flat Spotted Tire be Re-Balanced ?
Re balancing a flat spotted tire can reduce the vibration but it won't solve the braking lockup issues you have with a flat spotted tire. Karen will most likely flat spot it again.

Again, check to see if any protest dicks are running in class Sean (they do exist in the Solo world). Be ready to back up your mod.

Re: Stock Class Question: Air Oil Separators
If I was a protest dick I would throw paper on that in a heartbeat (unless there's a specific mention of air/oil separator in a FastTrack). Its not a catch tank, its an air/oil separator and does confer a performance advantage (less oil in the intake). Be ready to defend it at a NT or the Nationals....

Re: STX E36 question
If only there were some type of "throttling" device that would allow you to reduce the power output when necessary while still allowing greater power to be delivered when it could be applied..... Maybe actuated through a "skill" type interface... My vote for the best motorsports...

Count the Michelin ads in the Hearst Magazines magazines that are not C&D. Very common for automotive magazines to cross sell ads in their non-automotive sister magazines.

Re: Judging shock damping based on extension speed?
Is this a problem, or just an irrelevant effect that won't affect performance? You have no way of knowing if an air bubble is somewhere in the valving from the shock being shipped on its side. That's why shocks are cycled on a dyno for a a while before any real measurement takes place. As Jeff said...

Re: I officially don't like Lewis Hamilton
You have to be arrogant to be a top driver in F1. Schumaker, Senna, Prost, Mansell, etc. Assholes every one. Its all about results in F1. If you want to win, you have to put feelings aside and get the job done. McClaren has been screwing up big time with both Hamilton and Button. I don't blame Lewis...

Re: Recommendations for Car Trailer Tires?
BTW... if you go on a lot of the Airstream trailer forums most of those folks have given up on specific trailer tires and are using light truck tires. Most of those guys with a 7,500 GVWR trailer are running the Michelin LTX M/S2 in 235/75-15. 2,183lbs load capacity and a 6 year warranty.

Re: Recommendations for Car Trailer Tires?
Here's my most recent thinking after watching yet another set of junk trailer tires self destruct... And this is not a recommendation, just thinking out loud. A 205/75-15 light truck tire (Dunlop RVXT) is rated at 1,593lbs at 44pis. A Goodyear POS trailer tire is rated at 1,820lbs at 50 psi. A 4,000...

You've led a very sheltered life Kurt. Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Nissan, Toyota, etc. have all built in-line engines with the intake and exhaust on the same side. That was awesome! I've never seen intake and exhaust on the same side of the engine. Those crazy Limeys!

Re: My friend, Sho Torii, may want to relocate to So Cal
It all depends on the type or neighborhood he wants to live in. Some of the older, less desirable neighborhoods are getting gentrified and actually becoming much nicer. Its pretty spotty but if he's thinking about OC then he should look in Buena Park, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Wesminster, Anaheim, an...
