Re: Extreme street, should it replace CST?

Cool. It would be nice to use the scales a few times a year just for fun. Sport seats can save 20 to 60 lbs. When a car is on the fence fuel level is factor. It would be nice to have the opportunity for the car builder to weigh in just to know.

Thanks for the answer.

Re: Extreme street, should it replace CST?

The one question I have is weight, how do we measure it locally? Do we need scales for some events or just not do it like local SM? Using the allowances provided it is possible to build an incredible power to weigh ratio car. Some cars can reduce weigh from stock. An S2000 (stock 2813 lbs with heavy...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

I am requesting that the HCS level of preparation be acknowledged as acceptable for cars that run in all class's for cars that compete in the "Street" level of preparation. I see your point but it takes more than that to make it work if the HIST PAX structure that we have is used. PAX gets wild fas...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

Just some clarification. Looking at some of the posts above I see HCS and HIST blended and confused with each other. Cal Club has something in place (a PAX structure we call HIST) however other regions do not have anything for older cars. HCS is confusing. It is just an offering to local regions fro...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

The HIST1 engine swap can look …. David, I think we all know what you saying however looking at some of the posts above I see HCS and HIST blended and confused with each other. HCS is a proposed unofficial offering with its own allowances such as motor swaps. HCS is not an SCCA supplemental class. ...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

I think coil overs are not a big problem for HIST2. Think about STS as a starting point. Way more to think about. Best done in a different string as this string is about allowing HCS or not into Cal Club HIST1 as it is listed in the letter.

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

Doug, I am not suggesting we limit the Historic 2 to just E and H Street. Until we have anyone running we will not know the effect of a HCS level of preparation on a group of cars with production starting in 1975. What I am asking for is HCS preparation allow for spring that could be other than sto...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

David, I want what is best for the Club. The issue in the past is/was all HCS is underground and nothing is/was listed in the Cal Club SR's. Drivers were making or requesting to make investments into modifications with no Cal Club rules to support the action. Also HCS does not list cars that qualify...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

One thing to think about, "How do we explain any of the "Outlaw" rules to someone from a different region who is running with us for a short period of events." Back in August we had several new drivers. Classing them was a challenge at registration and I witnessed Tom Barry saying, I am not sure wha...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

Doug, I feel that your proposed 0.870 index does a good job of dealing with the fastest-possible HCS-prepped car. However, it leaves the rest of the field (literally everyone in the class today) in the dust. That is what HCS is all about, just like SM. So far the PAX has been so soft and the fast c...

Since everyone else is doing it, here are some thoughts - or a proposal if you will. HCS-1 (Street, '74 and earlier) Years: 1955 - 1974 PAX: HCS 0.794 Cars: Same as HCS plus Howlett's list. Modifications: Same as HCS. Possible turbo restrictions or wheel restrictions. Thanks Brian, I enclosed a few...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

A few suggestions/ options for updates to the Cal Club 2021 SR's. This is just for conversation and all of this needs more thought and review. HIST1 and HIST2 updates can be made for 2021. All proposals require review by the Board. All proposals need to consider the need for local staff managing any...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

Doug, A 911 could certainly be prepped to be extremely fast, especially a turbocharged and fuel injected 74 model. At least one region actually excludes the 911, probably for this very reason. Brian, Updating the Cal Club supplementary regulations can bring some positive changes and this conversati...

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

What will HCS's index be under this new proposal? To put the HCS PAX index into perspective look at GS=.792 , ES=.793 and HCS=.794. If an ES “stock/street” Morgan runs in HIST1 using the ES allowances it has very little PAX margin in comparison (.001) to an ES Morgan that has taken the full advanta...

Re: CST Tire Treadwear Rules Change

If, if, if the Toyo intermediate (pick one model) is proven slower than say the RE-71R, you could say all 140 or 200tw (what it is now) and Toyo XYZ intermediate can run. The point is. "Don't just allow all 100tw." This would help people with 13 and 14 inch wheels that can't find tires and the few t...
