Someone being amazed by Flex sensor readings. Just ignore his nonsense ramblings about the sensor measuring gasoline content
 at him being surprised by the water thing

Re: Testing E85

Beware with the Flex fuel sensors, because (just like the O2 sensors don't really measure air/fuel ratio) these don't really measure ethanol content!! Inside the sensor it is pretty much two electrodes dipped into the fuel (which form a capacitor) and it measures the capacitance. It has a preset for...

Re: CST rules?

~15 years ago the CSM/CST rules were - if you could drive from Cal speedway to the McDonald's on Foothill and Cherry without getting arrested, you're ok for the class. I don't know who added the California registration eligibility thing since, but it totally doesn't fit the spirit of that class beca...

Re: Pics/Vids from 4/22 & 4/23 Event

Here is onboard from my Miata. 65.9 Visually the course was quite challenging and while walking I thought some sections would be quite a pain to go through. Then it was time to drive and I was pleasantly surprised that it flowed really well. I liked it a lot. A great course (by a first time designe...

Actually 24hr Lemans and other 24hr type races are actually bad examples to show your point. Fastest Raw speed does NOT sit atop the podium. Most completed laps does, often it's not by the fastest car or even class on the track, but the one who spent the least time making repairs and other off trac...

Re: PAX Definition

There is no "serious race series" as you called it where a grid would include: a F1, Top Fuel Dragster, NASCAR, and a 450 MX bike waiting for a green flag, and expecting some form of parity between them. Since I mentioned LeMans and WRC ... their grids are quite mixed if you look at the s...

There are some very nice, albeit not cheap, super charging kits out there ... to take your NA to the next level. :D If he is afraid of NB Miatas "invading" ES, he would be running screaming away from SSM (where supercharged Miata go). SSM is a $$$$$$ class (if building a competetive car) ...

Ignoring the suspension geometry advantage of SLA cars and the mechanical grip of a 200TW street vs an A6 for a moment... About the dampers, the funny thing is that some manufacturers use remote reservoirs because it is cheaper/easier designing it that way.
Ban the reservoirs so people start buying uber expensive dampers which fit everything in the same housing?

I was there a day early for some on-camera interviews, and while watching the BFG lead test driver gathering on-tr...

Re: Toyota/Subaru RWD

Supposedly Subaru said there is no room for a front mounted IC ... thus no plans for Turbo'ing. I don't believe that's the entire truth. Maybe no turboing this year, but if you look at the exhaust routing - the pipes from the driver side manifold go across the front of the engine to the passenger s...

Re: Toyota/Subaru RWD

If I read this correctly, I see that the front to rear weight distribution is about 56%/44%. If BMW's can get close to 50/50 with a long 6-cylinder inline, why is it that Subaru/Toyota can achieve only 56/44 given the short boxer engine, which was supposedly pushed as far back as possible?! You mea...
