Re: New to forum and Auto Cross

Hi Patrick - welcome to the forums and to autocross! It's entirely up to you, but I'll put out some suggestions: Do you have a lot of spare time on the weekend and you're less concerned about budget? Do them both. Lots of spare time, but want to be a little careful with your budget? Sign up for Sund...

Re: Thank you for a great August Course

That course is my favorite of 2019 so far. I had *so* much fun!

Thank you Christine for penning it, Michael Bradley for leading the setup on it, and Marshall and Tom Frecentese for the Saturday evening modifications.

Man, that venue looks great for us. The palm trees, the mountains in the background. Does it get any better?

Thanks Ed. Really nice of you to take those.

Re: Heritage Classic Street ,on a local note.

David, Even in Street Prepared, you're not allowed to move the spring location. If the car wasn't a coilover configuration from the factory, you have to go up to Street Modified before that's a legal conversion. I am not familiar with the pre-E30 configuration. Are the rear springs around the damper...

Just in case anyone wants to look up the location...

Re: Aug. 3-4, 2019 Santa Anita Park Event

Regarding sound, the official test procedure (for car manufacturers, which is also referenced in California law) specifies the meter be located at a 45 degree angle from the exhaust tip, at the same height, 0.5 meters / 20 inches away. The throttle is applied slowly over a period of several seconds ...

Quest 2100 sound meter parts info: for our equipment people

I'm putting this note in both the E-board and public forums, so people in need can access this info. We use a Quest 2100 sound meter and have one of the extension cables; I believe the ICM-50. This is the same meter used by SCCA National. Our extension cable is damaged - one of the ends was torn off...

I believe the software is what costs 7500 bucks. I have no direct experience with reflashing an abs module but it can be done. So back to a big price tag.... I've used the software with the race ABS module. It works very well considering you can alter just about any parameter.... So yeah, back to y...

Re: Aug. 3-4, 2019 Santa Anita Park Event

I'll add that lifting at the meter doesn't quiet your car for the remaining 99%+ of the course, so if your car actually *is* too loud you could easily be the guy getting us kicked out from the venue. That's firmly in the Not Cool camp, both for you and for us. So no, I'm not in favor of "just lift n...

Re: Aug. 3-4, 2019 Santa Anita Park Event

Hi folks, I'll be there on the 4th with my Mustang & want to be prepared with solutions if it's too loud. For the side pipes, I can reinstall the factory baffle plates or cap the tips with metal/silicone sheet held on with band clamps. For the exhaust tips, I'm thinking of rolling up coarse steel w...

In addition, the class has to meet section 7.2 requirements for the events you attend: 7.2 CLASS Separate Classes exist for women that choose to participate in Ladies classes. For the purposes of Regional Championship Points Calculations: a. An Open Class consists of a minimum of three drivers. b. A...

Re: Aug. 3-4, 2019 Santa Anita Park Event

Aaron, 93 dB at 50' is moderately, but not crazily, quiet. If you have a large V8 and put on an exhaust that allows you to enjoy the sound more, you may be on the edge. If you do the same on a turbocharged car, it's rarely a problem. For example I was co-driving a friend's FRS last year and I think ...

You can, but you should keep in mind that there isn't any security on-site for us. Anyone walking down the street can step right onto the property, and anyone driving down the street can drive on. My suggestion is to use the buddy system and some carefully selected locks. Lock as many trailers toget...

Re: Aug. 3-4, 2019 Santa Anita Park Event

In addition to Anthony's comments, we generally want to capture sound at the "loud" point on course so to the extent possible, we'll measure it where drivers are generally full throttle and in the upper rev ranges. Full throttle at 1200 rpm doesn't usually reveal much about how loud a car is for the...

Re: Ok,I'll ask. What, if any details are there about...

Like I said George: there's nothing we can do to make everyone happy. The poll we sent out has shown the majority of our respondents prefer a straight points event or a points event with an extra drop (the latter was the leader.) We need to prove we are a "good tenant." Hosting a school or a two-day...

Re: Ok,I'll ask. What, if any details are there about...

<t>Doug, I understand your points and agree. Unfortunately there's nothing we can do to make everyone happy, so the best alternative is adding the drop. Perhaps that can be refined to *only* drop this event if the member doesn't run, minimizing - though not eliminating - the effect of an extra drop....

Re: ABS and Stability control "free" in Prepared (25235)

Please write in, but know that NO traction and ABS is basically the current rule, unless you already have them on the car, from the factory. This causes the problem. I don't think we can reasonably say "you have to delete these things that are already on your car" and conversely (some of) the member...

I'm well out of the loop on the SEB side of things, but perhaps Marshall could chime in here and explain some of the background for consideration. I know that Prepared has been... "stable" (to use a positive term) on their ruleset, but when someone in an OE car comes in and romps on people there (co...
