Re: Online Registration - Is it time? SDR Edition

But almost all of this below (checks and mail) are about practice days... which are a different subject. I know the issues overlap. To me, I would 100% agree that the printing out a form, cutting the slip, filling it out, making a check, mailing it... is silly and should be gotten rid of. I hate it ...

Re: Online Registration - Is it time? SDR Edition

Good, then you do understand that doing this online at this time, does not change the cards at all? That would have to be a different solution or proposal.

Re: Online Registration - Is it time? SDR Edition

Per the SDR bylaws, one can opt in for mailed fliers and event notices. Not just email. There's plenty of problems with using motorsportsreg; those are motorsportsreg problems, not online registration problems - we can definitely find or make a better online registration system but that's a topic fo...

Re: Online Registration - Is it time? SDR Edition

liminating the need for manually filling in a registration card every single event saves each participance at minimum 5 minutes. That represents several hours of time that is gained back for the participants (5 minutes x ~150 competitors = ~750 minutes = ~12.5 hours). The potential time savings inc...

Re: Online Registration - Is it time? SDR Edition

Byron, I know you are a smart guy. Please read the linked thread on the SDR forum. If one understands how the region politics work, how the clubs works, how the board and bylaws process works... and what THEY see as the reason for things being the way they are, then you can really address what can b...

Re: Online Registration - Is it time? SDR Edition

Neither of those are reasons not to run at SD but its annoying to do every time I show up. Understood. My main point through all of this though, is that in order to make a change, one has to make a proposal to the member clubs as to what you want fixed. Again, define the problem. Define the solutio...

Re: Online Registration - Is it time? SDR Edition

You know, it's kind of funny - I was having a similar conversation with my wife yesterday while i was writing a check out for the upcoming practice session in San Diego. It feels strange to snail mail it, too. For all our recurring transactions that we pay every month, including bills, this is the ...

Re: Online Registration - Is it time? SDR Edition

Make the card available online. That would fix most of the problems, gets rid of the time I spend waiting for a pen to be available and makes it easier for whoever is performing reg to read my awful handwriting. The only thing it does I can see neg about this is that it removes some of the social a...

Re: Online Registration - Is it time? SDR Edition

Bobby, What if the proposal was that you could pre-register online. But you still have to pay at the event. And you still have the tech procedure. And if you are new, you still have to see Warren and buy the SCCA weekend or annual membership and get a number card and fill out those forms. And you st...

Re: Online Registration - Is it time? SDR Edition

I feel this is taken out of context from the 140 comment facebook thread What problem are we trying to solve? Is there a problem? - Randy Chase What I said was, that in order to convince the clubs, you have to have a good reason. I do not know why that is so hard to grasp. Step one when making a cha...

Re: Australian Supercar V8

V8Supercars is one of the best racing series on the planet. I have been fortunate to have been involved with the series for the last 5 years as all cars have to run ChaseCams in them. I flew over to Surfer's Paradise to see the Indy race there and spent a week hanging out with the teams and drivers....

Re: Course previewing via video

One of my last times at Nationals, I only used video and did not walk the course. For me, the video was far more effective and I was able to watch it around 50-60 times. By the time I ran it, I already knew it. I am different in that walking courses for me is mostly an exercise in futility. p.s. Tha...

I think Gio's separate thread is an intended slight against those that did not go at all and so failed to get a trophy.

Re: 1992 MX-5 Miata

If you know your Star Wars trivia, the reference to parsecs was because the ship could take a shorter route, that was how fast it was. "Han Solo claimed that his Millennium Falcon "made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs". A parsec was a unit of distance, not time. Solo was no...

I think it also did the Kessel run in 17 parsecs. Not to be confused with the Keisel Run.
