Re: JDP Driving Program, Year 2 with no events?

There is frenzied work on JDP being done. But it's a really big ask. I am pessimistic. I've been asked from on high not to be publicly pessimistic. Does that make sense? I'm trying to support whatever gets decided. If there ends up being a National JDP oversight board, I'll apply for it. I stayed an...

Re: JDP Assessment Committee Named, now we can...

Junior training and coaching at the kart track usually involves lead follow exercises. A coach in a kart leads the student(s) in a kart. We got an okay to try this only at very very low speed to see the course better. Not to instruct.

Re: Tentative COVID-19 Guidelines Starting June 20th

"Events are closed to spectators. This includes your family members and friends that may want to come down and watch or support. Only registered entrants are allowed into the event." That statement is in direct conflict with the promise made by SCCA President Mike Cobb on the JDP Townhall ...

Re: JDP Program Temporarily Suspended

SCCA still seems to regard secrecy as the primary goal here.
I inquired on the private KAC forum and that appears to have touched off panic.
The KAC is meeting June 11th and hopefully, we will know more then. But no doubt will be sworn to secrecy.

They may want flexibility come the summer. Might be a backlog of events. Might make more storing unsold cars. Or staging the National Guard.

Re: April 4-5 Pro Solo Event: Cancelled?

The National office hasn't cancelled (or Postponed) the event yet. It's their call. They are in Kansas so it may not be fully clear to them that we are under orders here through April 19. My assumption is it will have to be put off. But you know what trouble assumptions can cause. :(

SSC is in with other classes paxed at Pro's (if we ever have one). So, the Pro Solo Indexes might need to be addressed. SEB doesn't handle that.

How old is your daughter? If under 18, we'll need to let you know about the minor waiver procedures.

My son just turned 16. He's run Karts since his 5th birthday, but this season we're co-driving a car. Pretty cool to do that!

Re: Historic 1 Proposed Rules change.

You do realize that a 49 State car is legal to bring into California after 7500 miles or if you fit a series of exemptions. You are not required to put a California compliant Cat into these cars. But a California Compliant car would have to. Even though both would pass inspection and can carry curre...

So, XS is a class for people willing to violate FEDERAL LAW and who at least claim to live in some podunk state with lax rules and no inspections. Seems like a solid and fair plan for the sports growth.... :? :? :? :? Do we add insurance fraud in their as well?

Re: Nationals run days question

Stacey and I have made very clear our total and complete opposition to FJ on Monday at Nationals. I don't want to start that war up again. Stopping the other course ONE year was the result of a poor course layout and the one of the worst weather conditions we've had for that heat. Hysteria over so m...

Chris just got back to me. They are looser than SCCA events. Only one parent needs to sign and they just do it at the registration table at the event. No need to do in advance.

Re: Lightweight wheels

Back as a teenager in my 69 Barracuda I went from some really heavy steel mag wheels to some Centerline AutoDrag's that were pretty light. The centerlines were a little bigger but the tires were lighter with lower profile. Overall diameter was similar. Not exact. I felt like I could feel the lighter...

That's interesting. I see what you mean on their spec pages. In the past with the EF sizes. The RPF1 was a decently light wheel but no where near the early SSR's (though a lot more streetworthy).

Re: Lightweight wheels

Just checked Enkei's website and they list 15.65lbs. Nearly two lbs a wheel isn't bad. The rears I have are copies of that wheel by Rota. The rears don't do anything, so I was never worried about using a wheel from Crack and Fail Industries. It would sure be weird to have nearly matching wheels on t...
