Re: Sound Measurement at a ProSolo

Here are pictures of the stock muffler. Notice that the outlets located on the rear bumper are cosmetic, the real outlet is the 60mm thick pipe. I was thinking that I could get a custom made L pipe with a clamp from the 60mm pipe to the outside of the bumper and then point it down. I could also atta...

Re: Sound Measurement at a ProSolo

Unfortunately El Toro happens the same weekend of a major family event. However, I want to take the Fiat to Nationals, it has suddenly started to work a little better, thanks to Isley and Marshall, on top of my tedious testing sessions. So, if the car breaks the 100 db barrier in any of my Saturday ...

Sound Measurement at a ProSolo

My bone stock, street legal exhaust might exceed the 100db limit at 50ft some times. It did it once last year at the Divisionals. Given that the sound metering policies are fairly new, how do they work at a ProSolo? When I'm staging at the line, I have to do 4 runs before I get back to the Grid, 2 l...

Re: 2011 Pro Solo rules

So, the previous years, there was Hoosier contingency for the class champion (points leader), and there was contingency for the Finale Standing. Winning the Finale and the Class championship was a total of 8 tires. With these new rules, where the class champion is decided by one event, and the Natio...

Re: Which SK1 car to get

The reason I say don't buy a newer Porsche out of warranty is the price of parts. Most of the defects are found in the 1st two years of ownership, but this is valid only when people drive these cars, and most people don't, they just have them a trophy cars (yes, a Cayman), so the mileage is too low ...

Re: Tire Size, Wheel Width, aaargh!

Steve, Savini's car is on 275 and 285. A 315 fits on the 9.5" wheels, I tried this on A6. The problem I see is that you're only increasing contact patch width by 13mm (0.5"), but you're running a 0.7" taller tire on a car that already has a tall 2nd gear, and 2nd gear will be even tal...

Re: Which SK1 car to get

Mihail, I ran autocrosses in 2 friend's E46 M3, that car is a pig, it won't turn at all, not fun, but great daily driver. It needs CSP preparation to be fun. I had a 335i Sport Package 6-speed manual for 2 years, then a 2008 M3 7speed for 2 years, I had both for about a year. The 335i is boring, not...

Re: 2011 pax

Run ASP, SS is a boring class, it is Braun and the rest. Gee, thanks Rad Super Stock: a class with a 2 generations old GT3, a Barbie car, a newer Barbie car, a Kit car, that's it. Boring. Jason, it's fine, you have moved to a more entertaining class for next season, and you showed you were the best...

Re: 2011 pax

Gary, $15k is too much for making it ASP competitive, less than half of that is the real number. Look at the advantages, you can get the new OSGiken LSD for the 996 GT3, light seats that keep you in place, and proper springs (springs are $300, and you already have great shocks), light battery, wide ...

Re: What's the deal with E85 on SP/Prepared classes?

From the Rulebook: 3.6.B In addition to fuels which are allowed by 3.6.A, Street Prepared, Street Modified, Prepared, and Modified category vehicles may use diesel fuel or any grade of gasoline. Gasolines consist entirely of hydrocarbon compounds. Gasoline may contain antioxidants, metal deactivator...

What's the deal with E85 on SP/Prepared classes?

If I read the rules right, these classes can use any fuel (within certain limitations), but race fuels are allowed, and race fuels have octane levels in the 100+ range.

Am I missing something here?

Thanks

Re: Best Handling Car in America, per C&D

The Boxster never lost the top, it was the Cayman that gained one. The car was designed as a roadster. I had 2 Boxsters and they drove nicely, they are cheap too. The Boxster Spyder is a different animal, it has a lower and plenty stiffer suspension, and it is lighter, it is a fine car but not pract...

Pete, I feel better knowing you're ok. At first when I saw the pictures I thought immediately you got hurt badly, somebody up there is protecting you, and it is nice to know that you're ok. It is unfortunate to have lost your car, but that's replaceable, the Law is on your side on this one. You need...

Re: STR- write your letter

Kenny, I sent my letter in support for the class release from provisional, but at the same time I wish to see you in a bigger car next season. Now, let's send some letters to merge AS and BS, move SS down to AS, and create a current SS class. New SS: R8 V8 and V10, the old 2007 GT3, the current GT3,...

Re: Lincoln Surface Report Please

No data (too lazy to plug the traqmate for nationals and the camcorder the last two years), just butt dyno. For me Lincoln and El Toro feel identical. Whatever works at El Toro works at Lincoln. Last year I made the mistake to run the practice course at Lincoln for several laps (over 50 laps at the ...

Re: Wow... M3 Killer, not yet, but, with some better shocks..

The new 5.0 is sick. The E92 M3 is a fast track and autoX car, Pobst lapped Laguna Seca at 1:42 on street tires (michelin ps2) with the e92 M3 before the new BMW competition package was available. The Mustang just beat the M3 with competition package fair and square, and there is already a faster Mu...

Re: FasTrack News (Solo) - September 2010

996 GT3 + 3.88 R&P (I think a full gear set swap is needed with the 2010 GT3 RS tranny, unless R&P is considered one component) + 997 aluminum doors + 3.8L 450Hp, sounds like a nice ASP car. I would still take the mystic 2011 GT2 RS.

A bunch (a mother load) of 295/30R19 and 345/30R19 with no more than 48 runs (anywhere 28-48 runs) at whatever price is fine for you.

Re: Time Trial

I have driven it quite a few times, and my Fiat is the widest autocross cars running SCCA National events (79" on 295 A6 with the required 5mm front spacers to clear the unnecessary gigantic calipers), it also has one of the longest wheelbase and total length (except that Tacoma pick-up running...
