Re: Photos/Videos For July Champ Event

Thanks for taking a pic of my car, Mako! I didn't think you were going to stay through the last run group. Geez, my car rolls a lot! It doesn't feel that extreme inside the car.

Re: Tom Berry! Another Miata course?

It seems that the ProSolo drag-race start would give the PAX edge to high-horsepower cars on Hoosiers (awd and otherwise) compared to the typical start into a tight corner or offset.

Re: SCCA San Diego National Tour '12 Video/Photos

Geez, Mako and Pete (and Karen and Judy), you outdid yourselves! I just spent about an hour looking through all the cool images and slo-mo videos. So many great candid people shots as well as cars. I'll have to order a bunch for Mom to show her what I do on weekends!! Here's a couple more vids from ...

Re: 2012 San Diego National Tour 4/28-4/29

Good. My little project tonight is finishing up the header install. It took every wrench, universal joint, wobble extension, socket, etc. that I own...much cursing...small pools of blood from scrapes. I made Jon Lugod do it the first time, and Shaun Bailey did the next two. Steve Lepper did this on...

Please tell me it's not as obnoxious as Schenker's car! :o Not that bad - only John Edwards' horrific sounding Fiat beats the Schenker mobile. I like John and it's a cool car and all, but for the love of everything holy, he needs to put an exhaust on the damn thing. I want to smack him and ...

Re: 2012 San Diego National Tour 4/28-4/29

PLEASE people.. leave your quiet exhaust on for this event. I've been a sound steward at national events 5 or so times now, it's not fun to take people's run away just because their exhaust is too loud. So far I've only had to do it twice at Nationals. Make sure you bring something with you to reme...

I will need a singer much more annoying to wake me up after working till 3am the morning of on a deliverable for my senior manager. For the right price, I can be that singer. I'll even spend the night on your couch and screech in your ear at 6 a.m. I've heard Kurt's rendition of "Surrey with t...

They are running the same course, everyone has the same option. No different than choosing a particular line over another.
They're all optional. You just DNF if you go the wrong way.

***Spot filled***Co-drive opportunity, STR Miata

Anybody wanna co-drive in my 2006 Miata (Jeff Cawthorne's old car)? Fresh Dunlop Star Specs (<10 runs).

$50 for the event, plus half the cost of repairs if anything breaks while you're driving.

PM me if you're interested.

Sad news. His shop is several blocks from our office, and he's helped me in person when I've gone in there to buy brake pads or the odd race widget.
I saw him drive the wheels off a GT1 Camaro at Willow about 15 years ago.

April course...kudos to Kurt!

Kurt, I think you did an excellent job of making use of the available space. I heard that the amount of real estate you had to work with changed several times, with each change necessitating a redesign. Way to hang in there under difficult circumstances.  The course really challen...

Mako's right...one-button operation is the way to go. The different beeps it makes are helpful to tell you when it starts and stops, along with the flashing LED. First part of just about every GoPro video? The operator looking into the lens.

Re: Post Car Classing Help Questions Here!

Hey Steve, Maybe you'd want to run in the Historic class, with a D Mod index? That might be another option. I've often thought (daydreamed, maybe?) of getting an original Mini and having some fun in Historic. Yes, it's difficult to figure out "the drill" at first. And each practice can be ...

Re: Post Car Classing Help Questions Here!

The course reading does get easier with time. I used to run with PCA in San Diego, and the courses were so walled in with cones, you couldn't possibly make a mistake (reading the course, that is!!). SCCA-style was an adjustment. There's really only four or five different elements and variations on t...

There are some nice triangular openings between the rearmost cylinders and the firewall that'll be ideal for routing turbo plumbing. Transmission is quite visible from the engine compartment...a fair bit of space around it. Can't think of another modern front-engine/rear-drive car where that's the c...

The most disappointing stat I've seen so far: 59.2 mph in 2nd gear. Might work out well for ST(X?)... wonder how high the redline can be bumped? Some 225/45-17 Direzza Star Specs would help on the gearing side...not to mention grip. Although the Primacy "Prius" stock tires, BTW, aren't al...
