Re: Battery question

I have no experience with either, but I've heard the MiKroh's do actually work as long as you don't let them discharge... All lead acid batteries will suffer badly if you let them discharge low. The only difference is that a battery with only, GASP, 12Wh capacity, there is no room for life-shorteni...

The run order should be changed to the following: Order Run Work Rest 1 Red Green Blue 2 Blue Red Green 3 Green Blue Red L 1 Red Green Blue 2 Blue Red Green 3 Green Blue Red This means no one is running right after working which also means people aren't having to wait till the very end of their work...

Re: June Fastrack

As for sway bars: Most FWD cars already pick up a rear wheel with the stock suspension -- I don't see how a stiffer rear swaybar alone will change the balance in steady state cornering. Once that wheel leaves the ground, the anti-roll rate on that axle becomes irrelevant. A rear swaybar allowance s...

Re: who has Camber readers?

You can get a fairly inexpensive digital level (from Sears, etc.) that reads to 0.1 degree. Measure the floor, measure the wheel, then subtract or add. No trig required, Palin spawn or otherwise. Even better is that they usually have a calibration button. Calibrate on the floor, Then read...

Re: Is it OK to drive a turbo car w/o IC pipes connected?

I wasn't talking about redlining the motor in relationship to the spinning up the turbo, I was making an analogy to a NA motor, where spinning the motor (or turbo) without load is bad. In what way do you think free revving a motor bad? Nothing bad at all. As long as there is either fuel or ignition...

Re: Is it OK to drive a turbo car w/o IC pipes connected?

having the waste gate fully open is like simulating a very large compression side leak. it'd be very large, but still not as large as a fully open compressor, so, having the waste gate open really doesn't help you one bit.. :( the part about overspinning the turbo. the best way to think about it wo...

Re: NEW EVENT CALENDAR ON THE SOLO2.COM SITE

Looking better, but the lists are still too general.

Should have lists like the following:

Regional Events
Committee Meetings
Divisionals
Schools / Classes
FSAE Events

Makes it easier for folks too look at what they want.

Re: NEW EVENT CALENDAR ON THE SOLO2.COM SITE

The CAL CLUB Calendar is just completely clustered. The Agenda listing is a very nice feature of Google, but there is way too many items being shown. I notice that there is a check mark on the top right corner of the calendar that allows you to checkmark what you want to show up on the calendar. It...

Re: NEW EVENT CALENDAR ON THE SOLO2.COM SITE

I like the Google calendar idea.

Could we also change the other calendar to include all the info as well, but make it into some columns. That way it would be easy to look at the events that you want to. Unless Google calendar can do this too.

Class Specific Sub-Forums

I propose class specific sub-forums. They could be placed under "Solo Talk". If possible, just list them under Solo Talk as hyperlinks paragraph style, so It doesn't waste so much room. I don't know why other forums don't take advantage of this. SCCA Forums do have this, but the forums are...

How about voting instead of this garbage. Giovanni has already abused this BADLY this year. But again your tone of voice (or rather e-mail post) will most likely assure that you do NOT get a number within the 1-199 range in the near future. Re: Two valve design for nitrogen purge - exactly how?

Nitrogen vs Air? No discernible difference. The key is keeping the vapor pressure down. Water vapor expands more than dry gas. Even then the pressure rise between humid air and dry air is very small. HOWEVER YOU MUST ABSOLUTELY KEEP STANDING WATER OUT OF THE TIRE. As temperature increases, the water...

How would you know until a class is created? There are some real bonehead policies in this organization and the rampant conflicts of interest make change impossible or just frustrating. Does it cost anything to add an additional class? Nope. Would it most likely increase membership? Most likely. Ju...

Apparently you did NOT read my reply to Tin, Webster or else you'd realize that we as a region have the freedom to create a local class IF, there's a demand. So that's why I suggested to Tin to contact his club rep and make a formal proposal. Since you're a newbie and have no clue how we do things,...

So I recently just bought a used TAG 125 kart. Main purpose is help me become a better driver and also get some wheel to wheel experience. Is there a solo class for a TAG 125 kart? No, and the reason being is that there isn't a DEMAND for a class for non-shifters (i.e. TAG). There's a thread on eKa...

Re: How bad is using 10w30 oil instead of 5w30 for my DD?

Hardly an issue in Southern CA. Yes, if I was taking my race car into the mountains I would worry. Off the top of my head, I believe 10 weight is OK down to freezing, 5W below freezing. Those charts aren't necessarily accurate. Bearing clearances, pump characteristics, passages, etc all play a role...

Re: Sway Bar Bushing Lube?

What do folks use as a lube between rubber and metal. In this case, sway bar bushings. I know anything petroleum based in not good, as that will harm the rubber. I think lube with a PTFE (Teflon) base would work. The aerospace elastomer lubes like 111 or Christo-lube are WAY too expensive. Suggesti...
