Re: New local classes for '09

Just require our current CSM to run 140 treadwear tires. I think this only impacts a couple of the players in this class anyway, and [cough] Steve Abbot [cough] should be running in SM2 anyway, and not cherry picking! STU2 should allow unlimited wheel & tire, and any car specifically l...

Kurt, you'd probably fit better in a 1st gen. They are very roomy.
Also, a CRX is a surprisingly roomy car.

Re: Can Diesel Ever Become Fashionable In The U.S.?

I too have enjoyed driving diesel rental cars my last few trips to Europe. They are powerful, quiet and very efficient. I agree that as cars like the BMW 335d and Audi TTdi (and whatever Honda brings over) become available here, people will come to embrace them. Then the floodgates will open for thi...

Re: Sept Fastrack posted

ES is obvious, with the old Miatas & MR2's being put to pasture, or as the SEB no doubt sees it, Street Touring. Did I miss something and MR2s are now going to be legal for ST? They never have been before... It can't be too far away... The existing ST class situation will become a full fledged ...

Re: Sept Fastrack posted

This is about eliminating three stock classes, DS, ES and FS. ES is obvious, with the old Miatas & MR2's being put to pasture, or as the SEB no doubt sees it, Street Touring. The less obvious one, is the ITR. Make it go away, along with the older muscle cars, and its suddenly alot easier to spli...

The current wording of the stock class shock allowances is the direct result of people stacking the shock with extra bump stops to get more spring rate.
I'm trying to remember which Honda driver got protested for that little trick...

Forget the 13b.

The Miata solution for SM2 is Bill's car with the 2.3 duratec as used in the new Formula Atlantics.

Of course the power band is probably 8000 rpm to 11000 rpm so you'd want a sequential gearbox...

Sitting right next to the kart are two other cars for sale:

1985 Toyota MR2 - blown head gasket, otherwise pretty clean.

1972 Honda 600 coupe - frozen brake cylinder, otherwise pretty clean.

I think my friend Dave would like to get $1k each, or $2500 for all 3. :D

I know an old 125 shifter that could be picked up cheap. It has an extended front porch and large seat and was set up for somebody 6'-2" and 225 lbs. It was pretty darn fast the last time I drove it. Probably needs a little work, but it would be a very inexpensive way to get going very fast in ...

Re: Whats the best cheap used car to buy for AutoCross?

You cannot go wrong with any Miata. The 1.6 is a good STS2 car. The M1 1.8 is a good STS2 car without the LSD, or a good E-Stock car with it. The newer carts are good C-Stock cars. All are good CSP cars. All have great potential in SM2, Prepared & even Modified. That's the true beauty of the Mia...
