Re: Can i run my Jeep GC SRT8 in an autocross event?
If you can lower the CG and/or widen the track enough to meet the stability guidelines, you should be good to go. But I assume the truck has already been lowered some by the factory, and getting to 1.30 from 1.17 seems like a long way to go... Well, we don't mess with that for Stock. If compelling,...

Re: Cal Club grid process could use tweaking...
It's impractical to try that locally John. Sometimes the run groups are just too small, especially near the end of a small run group. We are more about having fun, or should be, at the local level. Nationally, at least you have the five minute rule. For Joey and I, we need about 5 minutes to swap.....

Re: Cal Club grid process could use tweaking...
For this one reason alone, because we have no teeth to force cars (drivers) out when they want more time, and we no longer need them to move out of the way, I'm against going back to Nat style grids. The car can lose its run if it doesn't run when it is time to go. I've never seen a multi-driver ca...

Yes, you'll have to choose a 2-digit number if you don't have a co-driver.
Steve, that's a good question, although you could easily claim that in your chosen font, the numbers and letters happen to look completely different.

Re: Tired of being penalized for being a single driver car!
One reason to limit the number of X runs in a given run group is so that you don't get everyone who wants X runs signing up in the same run group and screwing up the worker balance. That does have the side effect of limiting the total number of X runs available. Maybe there's a way to enforce even d...

They probably have the same ABS electronics, so wouldn't that depend on whether it was tuned by Subaru or Toyota...oh, wait, never mind.Robert Puertas wrote:The Suby also probably engages ice mode if you even think about touching the brake pedal with 3 seconds of coming off the throttle.

Re: Can i run my Jeep GC SRT8 in an autocross event?
Mako, the safety rules (section 3, where the rule about top-heavy vehicles lives) apply to all cars that run in an autocross event, no matter what class they run in -- even if they don't run in a class.

Re: Cal Club grid process could use tweaking...
I like James' suggestion. D.C. Region also sets up an angled-parking style grid for their local events. It takes up more space, but I don't see why it would to take any longer to set up, or would require more than one person to run it. You wouldn't need to have people running around with stopwatches...

Re: Tired of being penalized for being a single driver car!
Pros for requiring that 2-driver cars alternate drivers: * That's how National events run, and I suppose that CSCC would like to give people an experience that simulates the National style to help them prepare. * Having less time between your runs helps you retain what happened on the last run so th...

Re: Toyota/Subaru RWD
MINI is still doing it quite successfully. However, there is not another car company trying to sell MINIs with slightly different bumpers that is trying to sell as many as they can. I don't see how Subaru is going to sell any by trying to keep their prices high when the Toyota exists with Scion's no...

Re: Getting your web site to "pop up" on Google etc.
The basic answer is that if Google finds lots of links to your site on other web sites that Google judges to be respectable or popular, then your web site will be high up in the search order.

Re: Feb 25 and 26 Course workers by PFM
I'd like to get reservations for Sunday for 1 worker in group 3 (for John Stimson) and 1 worker in group 4 (for Ellen Heian). That will allow us both to drive at the event, instead of one of us having to supervise our 11-month-old while the other works and drives. Can you set that up?

Re: Control Arm Bushing Material
Steve, it sounds like time to widen your search to the used parts market. If that doesn't work out, then yeah, totally screwed if you want to run Stock. Street Prepared is an option, or a custom reproduction of the stock part with as much documentation as you can gather to show that the resulting pa...

Re: Solo survey for SCCA Convention.
The number of runs question has no good answer for me. Badly worded and the results there are likely to be misinterpreted. I'd send that one back to my students for a rewrite. Steve, I pointed that out to Heyward; he acknowledged the problem but didn't know how to fix it after the survey had gone l...

Re: Tour & ProSolo Street Tires?
The wheel size might make a difference. The Integra runs on 6" wide wheels, the MINI on 7". That doesn't make as much difference with DOT-R tires because of the super stiff sidewalls, but street tires get pretty floppy when you put them on a wheel that's too narrow. So the MINI may make mo...

Jayson is correct. A car that's legal for improved touring is legal for street prepared. That includes the required roll cage and allowed stripped interior. It must follow all IT rules, and SP rules don't apply.

Yes, the Toyota version will be sold in the US as the Scion FR-S and in the rest of the world as the Toyota GT-86. In response to Ed: a) Stylistically, the production Toyota looks really close to the original. I haven't seen many production cars that looked that similar to the original concept, espe...

Re: ES Miata Air Dam
While what Kurt said is generally true, the car to have in ES is a '94-97 Miata with a limited slip differential. The LSD is pretty much the only option that makes a really significant difference in performance. All the other advantages come down to differences in weight, even the R package. I think...

Blue Jeans Cable sells a grade of HDMI cable that is supposed to be good for 100 feet. It's not cheap and it's kinda fat, but it exists.
