Re: Dyno Miata/SuperTrapp Test
All I know is that John Edwards looked it up (the 3 to 6 lbs of back pressure) in one of his books ... and said to stop by anytime to check it out. As a reference book, it has to be used at the facility. ... of course most pure racing engines have straight through pipes ... but perhaps that's becau...

Don't forget that whatever you solution, you can't take material out of the bumper beam. You can go after it with a BFH (big #$@&ing hammer), but that's about it. And, therein lies your problem with a good v-mount setup. Remember, cars like Matt's are not built to any rulebook, so they do prett...

Re: Help me built a good V-mount IC on my 94
Chris, before you start moving the intercooler, do you have everything in the front of your car properly ducted? Most Miata intercooler installations I see are not optimized for maximum pressure drop across the cooler/radiator. Make sure you're not wasting any of the incoming air, and (just as impor...

BMW M cars? The 2.8 cars make sense, but I didn't think the M's would be included. With the stock catalyst rule, the NC is effectively strangled. The car can only make about 150 rwhp with all stock cats (bone stock is 140rwhp.) MR2 SW20's and Spyder's will be similarly handicapped. For those with bi...

Re: How To? CVC Boot Straps/Clamps
;) A much easier solution is the braided insulating sleeve you get from McMaster. That's what I use, even on turbo cars, and it works very well. Also, those heater hoses can be shortened at the firewall end and you will have more clearance while retaining enough flexibility to deal with engine movem...

Re: SuperTrapp Advice, or ... ?
I agree with the "don't" comment. All the dyno tests I've seen show that system way, way down on power compared to almost anything else. I like Magnaflow myself and have seen good dyno charts on them... My old 2276 Bug motor really liked it FWIW. Not defending Supertrapp here, but if weig...

Re: Stock Class Exhaust Regs
Yes. Anything behing the last stock catalyst (and sub-O2 sensor, if equipped) is fair game. If it met sound, you could run open pipe back until just behind the driver's seat. I've seen some stock class cars where the exhaust is not much more than that with a turn-down at the end... there's a stock c...

Re: SuperTrapp Advice, or ... ?
The best answer to your Supertrapp question is... don't. 1) you have to run it out from under the car to keep from cooking your bumper skin. 2) running a disc-only setup, if you take out enough discs to make it quiet enough to run in SD, it won't make any power. A small muffler/resonator with a turn...

Re: TORC Off Road Event. Comming Soon
NAPCAR motors have a 358 inch limit... as I recall, these trucks can be 400+ inches. I have made 800hp out of a 410 inch, normally aspirated, pump gas (10.6:1) engine: if you took the same platform out to 435 or so cubes, 14:1 compression, with the latest head/cam technology, you'd easily be over 10...

I have a very early (3-main bearing, iron head) 1600 Roadster and a few boxes full of old Datsun Comp parts, and have thought about the same thing. On the plus side, for a Prepared car you don't need to worry about all those unobtanium interior and trim bits that you can't replace... if that stuff i...
