Re: Kumho Course Design/Safety School

For those who would like to try their hand at sketching out a course, attached is a properly scaled map of the AutoClub Speedway lot. Attached is the blank form that I use to make the course map. The faint vertical lines match the approximate North-South parking stripes. The horizontal lines are th...

Re: Help with BMW weird trans behavior

Can I get Redline MT-90 locally? Steve at Racing Lifestyles carries Red Line products. They are also listed on his web site. He may be at the next event at El Toro. My sponsor, GRC in Mission Viejo, carries it and Steve at C2 Motorsports, who races with us, also carries it. Please buy from those wh...

Yea it's Lifestyle Racing. I think they have a website lifestyleracing.com. Steve Eguina is the guy. He'll be at El Toro Aug 21 with the Porsche folks.
Steve may be at our event on Aug 14.

This way it is ties to what ever is legal in ST / STS, so we don't have to alter this rule if changes happen in the future as to what defines "street tire" legal tread-wear. It is probably a good itea to keep the written rule as general as possible. As a reference point, I went out the th...

Another shop that hasn't been mentioned is:
Avus Autosport
312 Vine St
Glendale
(818) 500-7663
I've dealt with them for years and some of the people that work there have been involved with the local BMW club.

I will add my thanks to those who helped me set up the bulk of the Autocross/Endurance courses on Thursday afternoon and all the volunteers that worked the course on Friday afternoon. The event ran very smoothly, even with a number of breakdowns that slowed the pace down a bit. Cars moved thru the s...

Re: which brand of garage floor tiles?

I tried the single stage epoxy on my floor first. I did the cleaning and drying prep and painted it on. It looked good for a while, but I noticed that where the tires sat, the epoxy bubbled/distorted. I then went to Home Depot and bought several of their sheets of linoleum. I first rolled out and cu...

Re: SCCA Solo Class Article/Discussion

[quote]All I know is that for me personally, having to buy an extra set of wheels and tires (that are 50% more expensive and don't last as long), lug them to every event, and change them out twice a day is the only deterrent to me running in Stock. I probably still wouldn't go to nationals even if I...

Re: F125 is not in CPM or did I miss ---

Don said: There is no mention at all of CPM in the suppplemental rules, that I could find. Section 7.3.2. d. says: Prepared and Modified (Prep/Mod) may still be combined when a class does not exist as per 7.2 (this says minimum 2 drivers to have a class), with times adjusted in accordance with the P...

Re: Pointers/Directional Cones

I stopped and the course worker just stood there staring at me. Possibly newbie? I made the call, as Event Chair, to allow the 4th run during the run group. If the run was not made we could not allow it or disallow it (disallow would be the only option). Then I asked for all the evidence to be pres...

The Cal Poly Sprots Car Club used to put on regular events on campus. I don't know if they still do that. There was also a club in town that put on events at the Madonna Inn parking lot and a local shopping center.

I am trying to get to this event. I run in the second group. If we are done by 11, I can work tech or I can just come over as soon as the group ends. Will that be OK?

Re: Rehash: 710's vs A6

The short sidewall will react quicker than the monster drag slick like sidewall of the 295, however, pinching a 315 on a 9.5" is not ideal for turn-in. The 315 is the lesser of the two evils, but you really need to get it on an 11" wide wheel to use it. Does anyone have an opinion on runn...

Re: Rehash: 710's vs A6

To the point, I'd value opinions re 710's vs A6's relative to the number of laps you can expect. I've read a slew of stuff on various forums, but I'm more interested in the experience of folks in our region that have run both tires. I run a 3200+ lb Mustang in ESP trim. I ran Hoosiers years ago, so...

I know that he is nowhere near SFV, but have you considered using John Edwards at Costa Mesa R&D Automotive Machine Shop? He has lots of experience with rebuilding import engines.
