Re: SM?
I'm thinkin' we need just one class. The "I" Class. It's indexed with every person getting their own index. Maybe Renee could find the secret formula Craig used for the Seniors class. Or we can have a committee of 50 or so people randomly picked from the entrants at the last event of the p...

Need to go back to this from the 2003 supp regs: CALIFORNIA STREET MODIFIED (CSM) Any car which complies with Street Prepared Catagory Rules, with the following exceptions/allowances: (1) Engines and drive trains are un restricted - including engine swaps, air induction, carburetion/fuel injection,...

Re: Rules Proposal 2009-02
I'm for everything except the fixed run group. Not even clear how it works. They run by themselves? Who works for them? If it's treated as a class running for year end points then it should be treated like any other class, made part of a run group and rotated with the groups. If they run for points ...

Re: Are We Allowed to See Club Team Picks?
We used to have only the Team Challenge format but after we got the computer system that automatically paxed the whole event it became easier to use the Team Points format. After a couple of years some people complained that the same people were getting points for the teams each month and it was no...

I left one important land mine, er question out..... I'm glad you like both sweepers and slaloms, but do you enjoy the occasional tight box? The short answer: huge fan. But let me just say it's all about the approach. It's way more than just $3r. What I really like is a good *()cy set of !19s wrapp...

Questions from George in Jay's thread: 1. What do you see as optimum participant levels at championships? Have you thought about how we will get there considering the obvious recessionary pressures we'll be under? 2. How will we survive the recession? Should we be promoting ourselves? 3. That Long B...

George, I know this is kinda high tech, but try to follow. In the upper left area of your browser (the thing you are looking at to view the internet right now) there is usually a tab and/or a button for something called favorites. When you are looking at one of the weather web sites that you like yo...

Re: X RUNS
I just want to clarify that the rules allow novices to run in ANY run group, meaning that both the S2000 and the SM2 car can run in the same heat as you, and even have the correct index so that they can compete directly (if they are interested). Ah, no. The Rules don't. Maybe policy has been that w...

Re: Discussion of local classes for '09
Try this on for size: 1. CSM remains unchanged. 2. Add CST as a local class. It's CSM on street tires - 140+ treadwear rating - and gives us a catch-all class for newbies, and even carries forward the nomenclature nicely. 3. Add SST as a local class. It's open to all non-ST classed cars and operate...
Re: X RUNS
Also note that X-runs (or Time-Only, which is still entered as Class X in the computer) are indexed so we still need to know the regular class when they register. Helps registration a lot if people can find out their class BEFORE the go to reg. Also, just for general info because we do get people ta...

Re: New local classes for '09
I thought CSM was the catch all the newbs class. Not how I remember it. Was intended for both. A place for newbies with strange mods and regulars that don't care to play in SCCA regulated classes. It was realized at the time that it could be a full local class with cars being preped specifically fo...

Re: Novice class changes for 2009
A couple suggestions: 1. Distribute novices as evenly as possible into the last run group before lunch and the two run groups after lunch, working as appropriate. This minimizes the likelihood of 40 novices distressing our schedule. Mike You do that and you might as well stay with the way it is and...

Re: Novice class changes for 2009
I kinda like Glenn's idea of two groups for Novices, right after lunch and end of day. One of the solutions to class size surprise could be in our probable revised online registration setup. We are likely to go to allowing everyone to pre-register (and pre-pay) online, which should reduce the at eve...

Re: New local classes for '09
Rick, Could you clarify that a bit for me? Are you saying we'll let them run in the correct class, say CSP, but with a street tire index, or are you saying we'll have an entirely new class - CSX - in which all street-tired CSP cars will compete? If we're adding 12+ new classes for year-end trophies...

Not with me. This idea completely goes against the concept of CSM, IMHO.Sebastian Rios wrote:It looks like we are pretty much in agreement on CSM being limited to street tires.
