Re: New Boss 302 TracKey

But I guess if they've already addressed it, then debating is moot. The SAC/SEB love to beat dead horses.... Write a letter. :) There're two items to the track key that make it illegal for stock (iirc): 1. The dealer has to activate and the part number billed is FRPP 2. There's question about the w...

Re: May Fastrack

I think John's right. None of the cars we added look like class killers, by any means, but they do now have a place to play and I hope we see some out...particularly the Boss 302. What do people think about the DS moves, both the Mustang going and the others out for comment? btw, does the new 2011 W...

Re: Places to have rotors turned?

If you're going to a higher heat range pad and doing track days, the last thing I'd want to do is let some O'Reilly type "shop" take material off my rotors...can you say "radial cracking"? For kind of a "Cliff's Notes" version of a bunch of brake science, the Stoptech w...

Re: May Fastrack

Boss 302 now in AS - sounds fun! Someone give me money. Ok, I'll be running my 20 year old technology, beat up old 'vette against $50-60k Caymans & M3's, $40-50k 302 Mustangs, and the occasional (Mr. Kenna) RX-7. Oh, and not to mention the late model AMG Mercedes (no clue about $$). I'm conside...

Re: Places to have rotors turned?

Couple of thoughts on turning rotors... Many (most) newer sports type cars use relatively light rotors, which means less material to work with...many just can't be turned and those that theoretically can end up very compromised in their ability to dissapate heat with the loss of material mass. In so...

Congrats to Bill and Christine and thanks to Cal Club for putting on another great event. Lots of fun and I'm glad I was able to be there :)

So, this new SP proposal gives the guys who have been pissed since the Evo was moved from ESP their field of dreams...so, looks like they may build it, question is will they come? Seriously, given that no one was ever going to come around to AWDSP, seems that classing the given turbo cars together ...

Re: What can you tell me about KW Variant 3 coilovers?

Thanks, John. I think I'll work on the rest of the set up (spring rates, bars, alignment etc) first and keep my eyes, and ears, open before I swap out the dampers. The beauty of ST is that there's enough stuff to play around with to be interesting...the bad news is there's enough stuff to play with ...

Re: What can you tell me about KW Variant 3 coilovers?

OK, so say I do go the Koni yellow route, with the Ground Control coilover bits...I wonder if the ots Konis for Mr. Two require some cutting, grinding etc. to work in coilover application? I cant' find any MR2 owners (searching on the 'net) who have done anything besides going the "plug and play...

Re: What can you tell me about KW Variant 3 coilovers?

Thanks for the comments. I'm looking at them for a car that prioritizes commuting, with Solo being kind of secondary. I figured at around $1800 for a true DA with Koni internals (so I hear) they'd be good bang for the buck. Also, I can get them with whatever spring rates I'd like from the vendor. In...

I don't know, John. If the size was "on the rack" and available to anyone who happened to walk into that tire store, at that specific moment in time, and is listed by Hankook...I don't see how a protest could be upheld.

Re: March, 2011 - FasTrack (Solo)

I'm still frickin' amazed that the Solo2 powers that be still allow non-GCR compliant roll cages. "Strongly Recommended..." Why should roll bars in Solo be held to the road racing GCR standard? I don't think we're trying to enforce a safety regulation, as much as making an allowance for t...

Re: Still time to sign up for SFR Divisional

^Thanks, Jeff. Also, conditions really moved around both days, so it is hard to get much info outside of in a specific class...(that's my excuse, anyhow!)...no, seriously, conditions were constantly changing. Saturday went from damp to wet to wetter to less wet and Sunday started damp and got better...

Re: Still time to sign up for SFR Divisional

Thanks to those of you who came up and played this weekend. It was good to see old friends and make a few new ones. Weather was pretty amazing on Saturday, even for NorCal...I don't think I've ever been at an autocross that was quite that cold and dreary. Thank goodness we had some dry weather on Su...

Re: F/S: 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder

Well...it is currently on 15x8 with 225 RS3's, which should be fine for SFR courses (not sure I can really see that much of a footprint improvement with a 9" rim, given the 225 section width). But, ultimately it might be interesting to play around with the 245/35-17. Yes, thrust in gear wouldn'...

Re: F/S: 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder

Think expensive tires...but, if Doug were to run r-comps (which I don't believe is the plan), think lower overall tire costs than many (most?) stock class cars ;) Speaking of more expensive tires, my first task is going to be to determine if I can spend more on tires for Mr.Two...like 245/35-17's......

Re: Does this wheel exist?

thanks for all the ideas. It is appreciated. I think it is going to come down to a custom job, as the offset is critical...that 3-4mm may be the difference between fitting and hitting stuff. I'll know more once I get the car and start measuring. The Team Dynamics option has appeal, but given the app...
