Re: 2018 Event Statistics

I would think we have another advantage with this format. Often one or two 2-driver cars manage to arrive late, or need extra tire cooling or whatever, and have the course all to themselves at the end. Any reason we can't feed initial cars from the next group in at the same time we're finishing up ...

Re: 2018 Event Statistics

Also, it depends on workers. No sense in sending a car when workers are still trying to get cones back in place in the first section. And, you have to keep an eye on the overall course in case someone does a finish wipeout or major cone destruction or there's a spin, stall, etc. Advice from the tim...

Re: 2018 Event Statistics

There is still some low hanging fruit. Rick came up with a process for those few cars that end up being late to grid and thus late to finish, or those with re-runs. Which would have saved us another 10-20 minutes or so. Plus we got started at 9:16 which was me slowing down the event so I could ensur...

2018 Event Statistics

Ill be updating this thread as the year goes on with our event statistics from the previous event. Hopefully we can use these to continue to increase the amount of cars we can run per hour to allow for more runs in the day, shorter days, or whatever anyone else would like to do with the efficiency. ...

Thanks! -Chris I reopened registration, so if you want, you could register tonight for a faster experience t...

Re: Why Get Your Start at Autocross Sunday?

As Randy said, passengers are allowed now, though competitors must have completed their competition runs before riding along. This is not the case. It's your passenger that has to have completed his runs. You missed the "riding along" part. That implies the competitor is a passenger, not ...

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

Just tossing out a wild idea which hasnt been thoroughly tested. We could have 3 runs in the am for a lower cost and a second session in the afternoon like the practice or x runs for an additional cost. That way those competing wouldnt have to stay and those just wanting practice could come in the a...

I'm also thinking of the accumulations of late start, course changeovers, kart to car changeover, lunch breaks running long etc. It must occasionally add up to a depressing number when the sun is going down. There's been a lot of talk about how we used to be more efficient. Perhaps we should be loo...

Honoring John Edwards

I have received word the John Edwards has passed away today. In honor of his I thought we could share stories or photos. Here is one of John back when San Diego used to do National Tours.

Re: January Event Registration Open

Note that the Practice is currently full, so if you register now you will be on the wait list. There is a small bug in the system that will also wait list you for Sunday if you register for that, too, so you don't show up on the Sunday entry list. Never fear, you are in the Sunday event and we have...

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

the goal really isn't to pack up at noon or 1 pm. the goal is to stop running hugely inefficient events so that we can get more runs. I'd like to see us move in the direction of having a morning session and an afternoon session where everyone has the option to drive in both. it would probably requi...

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

I still have not heard the answer to that. By increasing the amount of runs they can take. Either as Marshall suggested, or i...

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

TO and X runs accounted for approximately 15% of gross revenue. I am all for improved efficiency. But burning off 15% or more of revenue in the process? Would it be possible for you to include your numbers on this one? How much for TO, X-runs, and Total Gross Revenue? and people could still do TO a...

Re: 2017 Event Run Time Statistics

When we used to have 250-300+ at events, we were more efficient. What isn't being taken into account is it adds stress to the core team. Thankfully we didn't have that turnout at all events. It also leaves little room for the car that blows up and you're down for 1/2 hour cleaning up. You end up cu...

That doesn't directly effect runs per hour, it just means fewer cars on course at a time. Release interval is where its at.

Well we no longer use only 600 numbers for new people as they are free to choose any number. But I thought we had added something about instructors being able to take an average for any event they instruct for the first group, limited to up to 3 events per year. That way they can still collect poin...

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

I think the format blows. I'd do everything I can to get individual people in and out as fast as possible (i.e. half days) AND take advantage of all the daylight you have. We're not getting any venue/insurance/equipment discounts for leaving at 2pm. No we offered free fun runs which were announced ...
