This was my first time using Priceline, I got a room at Mission Plaza Hotel and Suites (3*) for $55.00 per night.

Re: Le Mans question

I thought of the train as well. My wife and I wanted to tour the region, so I was thinking of the car. We`re going with another couple so we can split the cost. Did you get a good airfair? The taxes and fees are a killer. (I like the bucket idea.....not) I couldn't find any deals, my airfair with t...

Re: Le Mans question

Hey John, I'm going to LeMans too this year. I only booked my flight and we're camping out there. I don't know anymore details. The train is pretty inexpensive from Paris to LeMans. I'm currently leaning towards that idea rather than renting a car. Don't know how I'm getting to the track from the ma...

Re: How Come We Don't Have More Formula Car Racers?

I've wondered that too. With so many people who drive trailered cars, it's a little surprising that more people don't drive purpose built race cars vs modified street cars. My only formula car experience is driving fsae cars and they're certainly faster and more fun to drive than any street car I'v...

Yeah, karts are a blast, but if you weigh more than about 120 pounds, weight just kills you.
I need to lose 90 lbs then!

Re: Non-Shifter Kart Class for Solo?

Thanks guys for the discussion.

I'm just gonna bring the kart out and have fun in F125. If I like running the TAG and find others who want to run a TAG class, I'll start thinking about proposing a class for it.

Re: Non-Shifter Kart Class for Solo?

If you geared it really low, then the only place on the course where you'd loose a lot of time is on the start before the motor gets into it's power band. I say have a go at an event, I'd like to see how you do. Which motor do you have? A Rotax would fair the best against the shifters because of it...

Non-Shifter Kart Class for Solo?

So I recently just bought a used TAG 125 kart. Main purpose is help me become a better driver and also get some wheel to wheel experience.

Is there a solo class for a TAG 125 kart?

Re: January 9/10/10 Wrap Up (Photos/Video)

I liked both Saturday's and Sunday's courses. Thought Saturday's was a little bit more difficult to drive and also had a huge bump in the back, felt like I was in a rally car. It was also a good test of the Toyo R1R's on my car. I heard they weren't so good on heavy cars (mine is 3200lbs + driver). ...

Re: Video Vs. Data Acquisition

Ideally you want both. Personally I like the data acquisition since I do it for work. Its objective, but you have to take good notes of what you felt subjectively to have it make sense. The data helps explain and support my subjective feel. The problem with data acquisition is you have to interpret ...

Re: indoor karting in the IE

Couple years ago I did a kart day (karts included) at Moran Raceway which was an awesome track. If I remember correctly it was super long (~1 mile) and they had a corner like the Corksrew. At the end of the day, you have a team of 4 drivers and do a 12 lap enduro. Rolling starts are crazy! Amazing t...

Re: Linear Position Sensor

I have a Traqmate which is nice because of the Display unit. Problem is sampling rate, fastest I believe is 40ms. But I prefer the DL1. It would be good for your application because it has very quick sampling rate (good for suspension travel measurement). Software interface is not so great, but you ...

Most linear potentiometer's run $300 to $400. A cheaper, less accurate method is a string potentiometer, I have one if you want to borrow.

What data aquisition and sampling rate are you using?

Mihai,

My car is available for a co-drive if you're interested. It's not a development car. I just unload the trunk, check the tire pressures, race then park it until the next event.

Let me know.

Re: New to LA & Ready to Get Back on the track--my car any good?

I believe all production 2007 ISOOO and newer have a VSC/VDIM off switch. 2009/2010 for sure. Just press and hold it until you see the VSC off light come on the instrument panel. The problem w/ that button is that traction control will turn back on. Happened to me about half way through an autox la...

The Toyota cars I ususally drive are prototypes so we don't have VSC/TRC/VDIM installed.. I believe all production 2007 ISOOO and newer have a VSC/VDIM off switch. 2009/2010 for sure. Just press and hold it until you see the VSC off light come on the instrument panel. Nicole, what model year is your...

I had an awesome time in my first SCNAX cup. The team competition was so fun and also learning other people's car, especially the Palero's Hyundai. All of the schools are open to any car: rear, front, all wheel drive. I don't think there are any teaching differences between the Open (gents/ladies) and Ladies only school, but check with the school event master. I work for Toyota and we test drive the IS250 sometimes all over the US. Should be pl...

Hi Nicole, Glad you like driving in a solo event and welcome to LA/CSCC! You can definitely take an IS250 on the track! Its a pretty capable car and you can have lots of fun with it. Ah, see that's the problem, you are miss-understanding where Toyota came from, they started out making trucks and family cars, every 20 years or so once of the Toyoda family will get all feisty and they will make a sporty car. So how is going back to your roots "selling out"? It's also th...
