Re: OS Giken Super Lock

Stock Corvette diffs are very very good, even for autocross. Not saying it doesn't warrant consideration at all, just that the potential gains for the car, and hence its place in a prioritized list of upgrades for any given class, put it much further towards the bottom than it would be for most othe...

Re: New Trailex Trailers on Sale

Randy, what is the weight on the enclosed, what's the box length and what's the total end-to-end length including the front A frame? Is it standard 102" width or narrower?

Re: Tire Size, Wheel Width, aaargh!

I ran 335/30-18 on a 10. You'll be fine, but of course the tire would be happier on a much wider wheel.

He's not Viper-boy any more but he still has torque - all the way to 4700RPM! I think you've got that backwards Will. You probably need to review ancient Z28 Camaro history. The camshaft/heads in the engine he is using will be pulling hard to near Integra rpm levels in that short-stroke V8 :o What ...

Re: 2011 pax

The first thing that happens when you eliminate wheelspin is a large increase in the ability to break loose the rear end with the throttle (assuming you're driving a car with torque, like a Miata, and not an RX-8). Does the S2000 have the torque to do this with partial throttle? S2000s stop overste...

FWIW Rad, I don't entirely disagree on "Braun and the rest" - IMO in the sport there's Braun, Thomason, Strelneiks, McKee, Daddio, and the rest. The "rest" of us just generally prefer to be reminded of this in a more gentle fashion. :) What makes SS the best class in Solo (before...

Re: Willing to part w/Viper after Nats

Ralph Gilles was head of Dodge's SRT/Viper division and is now CEO. The SRT engineers are very supportive of the Viper community. With the Fiat ownership, will be interesting to see if there ends up being a Gen 5 Viper, or if it'll be some kind of Americanized Ferrari. As long as Ralph holds some po...

Re: Willing to part w/Viper after Nats

I drove one a few weeks ago while instructing at a BMW (wide & fast) autox - a 1996 coupe. It was not setup like my z but did have a6's. I was not blown away by the performance, however. Could you briefly go into the differences between a 1996 coupe & yours? I know yours is seconds faster t...

Willing to part w/Viper after Nats

Had the car three years now, ready to move on. Car is fully sorted with 28-series Konis and custom front bar. Always very fast, fun, and reliable. Passes sound here in SD, have a superlight but loud exhaust I can include also. Will come with 2 sets of wheels (stock and CCW), one set of street tires,...

Re: Truck Suggestions ...

Yeah, I know the fuel trick. The problem is it's an annoying way to spend my time. The first gallon after the click goes in fast, I do that at each fill up. The second gallon takes a couple minutes, as you have to hold the nozzle at the slowest trickle to get it from shutting off. You can get a thir...

Re: Truck Suggestions ...

For an open trailer, any of the V8 half-ton pickups will be fine. Can also look at their SUV variants. A truck is nicer when carrying fuel and oils as you don't have to smell your cargo. If you are thinking you might want an enclosed trailer, and pulling it more than 1-2k miles per year, then I woul...

Now before anybody gets worked up over the speeds, Saturday's peak was only 1-2mph faster than the SD Tour, and only 4-5mph faster than the El Toro Pro. Sunday was 1-2mph faster than Saturday in a couple spots. But all totally safe, and totally FUN! It is difficult to compare courses between cars, ...

Good torque curve but the car is geared too tall (3.07), even for those courses. First does 58-59, second 88-89.

FS: Used A6 335/30-18 and 345/30-19

2x 335/30-18 2x 345/30-19 Have 2009 Nats, 2010 SD Tour, 2010 ET and Wendover Pros. Something like 55-60 runs. 335 (fronts) probably have 60% life left, 345 (rears) 40%. Plenty good for someone to play around with for locals or for test fitments but I'm picky and they have too many heat cycles to win...

What's the story on space for extra "goods" (wheels, tires, spares)? I might consider this, but fear I have an unreasonable amount of extra stuff that needs transport; almost none of it fits in the car.

Re: Questions for Nationals in Lincoln

We got there early for the Pro which got us in one of the first five paddock rows. Despite the lot's size, found it surprisingly walk-able, moreso than HPT or Forbes. Did 15->80, with a tiny shortcut out through Provo. Decent drive, nothing too terribly hilly. A couple stretches in Wyoming really pu...

Yes, but... when I think of camping I think of tents. there are only concrete and rocks on site. So, if you are planning to sleep on the ground, be prepared. They lock the gate pretty early too, so if you stay on site you're stuck there and can't go to dinner with friends, hit the casinos, see John...
