Re: SEMA

I wanted to go. We have 20 people from my site going(including all the engineering staff from my division) but they wouldn't get me a pass. I guess someone has to stay behind and do some work.

Re: Points Cards: Expired-On Hold (OVER)

Is there a reason my points card hasn't been updated? My paypal reciept is from a week ago.

Edit: I just paypal'd another renewal for 2011 season. Renewal with no changes.

On the Freightliner I used to drive, turning on the engine fan while going down the grades added 50 braking hp to the rated 430 braking hp of the engine brake.

Re: Lincoln FAIL -- turned around.

Bill, on first start up does the fan start turning? Your clutch might be similar to the air operated ones on semis. At idle they won't turn unless the coolant temp requires airflow over the radiator. The electrical connector might carry the signal that engages the clutch. Like on an AC compressor. J...

QV, that was just a raw photo. I haven't edited it yet. Maybe you did, I can't tell on my iPod.

But seriously, next year I will beat you in my truck. Little more tire pressure and about 1 deg. negative camber in the front should do it.

I need to get a decent job so I can fix my Pro7 car. Anyone know where to get a cheap steering column/steering box for an 83 RX7? Other than extending the exhaust over the axle(so I don't melt Watts Link bushings again), all it needs in the steering box.

Tom, I recently upgraded the HDD in my old(2003) Dell laptop. From 30GB to 160GB. I used Acronis True Image Home to transfer everything. It clones the the HDD and when I installed the new HDD everything worked. Took about 2 hours total to clone the disk.

I wish we could ticket police for this. On my way to work yesterday I passed by 6 CHP, all talking on their cell phones. Come to think of it, they might have been on a confrence call trying to decide where to go to lunch.

The free app is pretty inaccurate. Don't know if the pay version is better or not.

I was using it when testing a car at work. It seemed to be giving the same results the engineers had with their test equipment.

G-Tac has a free app that features a G-meter. MaxQ Data has a free app that will plot the course for you(provided you have GPS. They also do sell a GPS unit for the iPod Touch users. Only $450- ouch).

Re: What does a wheel bearing going bad sound like?

to check the wheel bearing you can jack up that corner of the car and lift on the bottom outside edge of the wheel by hand. If there is a lot of movement then either the bearing is bad or the axle nut is loose.

We looked into this when we used to run the toll roads a lot. The state said no dice. Also, a lot of construction companies have been getting in trouble for running red dyed diesel in off road service trucks(the trucks never touch public highways) because they have the ability to be licensed. 90% of the time the wind comes from the west. 9% it comes from the east. And 1% it comes from either the north or south. And 60mph wind gusts are mild. Last Monday when the tent was ripped apart, it topped 100. As the locals say, it's just a breeze untill the speeds get above a steady 40mph.

Sweet! I can stand in my backyard and watch it. Unless the wind is blowing... like last Monday when it ripped the tent apart at the SpaceShip Two unveiling program. Luckly I only lost 7 roof tiles(one ended up on the other side of the house).
