Re: Drones at events

The only way they are allowed is if (1) the drone operator has FAA certification to operate the drone and... Mike If the SCCA, or even SoCal Solo wants to outlaw them, they should just say "not allowed". Period. But relating to FAA, there is no certification possible or required by the FA...

Re: GRA June 7 Practice Entry Lists

Thanks! It appears I already had an account, but I didn't remember my SCCA number. Waiting for an answer to whether my 15.9 year old daughter is permitted to run. She has >1000 miles on her learner's permit, and level 1 performance driving school. Same rules as driving on the road. You or other adu...

Re: getting back into the game

Championship events (now called "Autocross Sunday" for the everyone wins, cause I don't want to compete that's scary, child society) are both online, and in person. Craig, Buddy....you know very well that this is just an effort at better marketing. Newbies may be reluctant, or misundersta...

Re: CASOC Event Weekend - May 3-4 @Autoclub Speedway

Despite the heat, we had a great time. The only thing better than Saturday was today. We loved the course. Christine, you are to be commended. What a fun and FAST course. And, personally, Sunday's always seem to be better when the course is reversed. And for the Event Master to call an audible "...

Re: Ignition Switch Re-program

Once you replace the hardware, the car will not start until the programming is complete, so you have to 1) have the car towed to the shop/dealer or 2) have someone come to you. Thanks Steve and Wil. I received the new unit w/ Honda keys and have installed it. I've pretty much decided to trailer it ...

Re: Course Setup Friday 5/2: Volunteers needed

I need help setting up course Friday afternoon at 2pm. For 3 people this can be your practice work assignment. 1. 2. 3. I had previously told George I would volunteer. Unless you come up with much younger more virile "volunteers", I'm still available for set-up. I was going to trailer the...

Re: Qstarz GPS Products

I've never used a QStarz device, so I can't speak to it specifically. However, I know my BadElf logger device has an auto-record setting that can be set to walking, driving, or flying (or something like that) which in effect changes the speed at which you have to be traveling before it starts loggi...

GPS Product Set-Up

Originally, I was asking about a specific product, the Qtarz BT-Q1000eX. Although I get a good "track" around the neighborhood with the unit on the dash of the car, I cannot seem to get data when walking or riding a bicycle. When the software "reads" the log, there IS data there ...

Ignition Switch Re-program

I recently purchased and will be installing a new ignition module in my wife's 2005 Honda Civic. Having removed the old one, I can say it's probably a fairly easy install. The unit I purchased is a Standard Motors product which I understand is about as close to OEM as you can get. Comes with Honda k...

Re: Local vs national run idea

After attending my first national event I realize why we used to keep our local events to 3 runs (participation aside). It was a real challenge getting it done in 3. Having 4 runs locally is appreciated and I like that as well so..... I think we need more runs...like 8 @Nationals, and 10 or 15 loca...

Just past the 395 overpass, the tow truck was on site and it looked like you were going to unload the Miata, everything OK? Ya, Seb got it right. After some strategizing, the AAA tow driver hauled the Expedition to the next exit, a couple miles to a Park-n-Ride next to a Mobil station at the 15 and...

You really requiring Snell 05 SA per the flyer? Very few autocrossers own SA helmets. I assume that's wrong as the registration page lists Snell 95 as acceptable. I assume that's also wrong. so, you ran STS with a torsen? 1. The word "presume" is used in the ad, since you cannot tell from the outside, and I've never taken it apart. 2. IF Torsen, it certainly has not benefited me in STS. 3. My competitors were communicated with prior to running in STS and they had no problem w...
