Re: Miata year/model recommendations
To clarify Shane's comment, when he says the wheels may be +/- one inch, he means the diameter of the wheels, not their width. In Street you can use replacement wheels with the same width as OE, +/- 1" in diameter, and +/- 7mm on the offset of the wheel as installed. (Post a question in respons...

Re: CST Tire Treadwear Rules Change
David, you know I respect you a lot. I appreciate your comments, but I still fail to see how this helps our current or prospective members. Right now we have CSM and CST. It seems to me we're trying to move the bar so that someone, or maybe a couple someones, can put tires on that are currently not ...

Re: CST Tire Treadwear Rules Change
I have information from what I believe is a very good source that one of the top R compound manufacturers actually is considering a slightly longer lived "R compound". My guess is that you do NOT want that tire - or even the current A7, as Anthony points out - legal in CST. That's why we h...

Re: Excellent course this weekend
I totally agree with all the kudos above. The course seemed so simple on both days, but that just set me up for identifying CLEARLY all the places I was screwing up. Awesome work by you Reed! I honestly don't know what was causing the DNFs on Sunday, but I watched at least two people DNF on the very...

Re: Can I run Novice? Tire suggestions
Welcome back Earl! Definitely check in with the Wongs - I'm pretty sure they'll know the answer or they can check in with Brian Peters who'll know. Just a quick reminder that you can go up or down 1" in wheel diameter, so if the 20" wheels are standard in your car you can change them or le...

Re: Course setup workers, August 11-12 event
Michael - you're good for Friday and Saturday. I'll post here about the scheduling as soon as I know, which likely will be later today.
Reed - you're first in line for Saturday changeover, depending on Anthony. I'll post here once this all gels.
Thanks guys!
Mike

Course setup workers, August 11-12 event
I still don't know if we'll be able to set up starting midday Friday or not, but I need at least one and possibly two more setup workers to help me set our course. If we can start Friday afternoon, I'd like to start around 1:30. If we can't start that early, it's possible we'll have to hold off unti...

I'm a bit late to the party Shane, but I'll just add: Welcome to the region! Get something - anything - and join us at El Toro in a couple weeks. Be sure to sign up in advance. And even if you don't, get your butt out to the event to say hi and meet the yokels. You're an announcer type. Max is an an...

Re: Post Car Classing Help Questions Here!
Paul, Based on the mods you performed, neither technically belong in Street. Your safest bet from a classing standpoint is to run in CST, but don't expect to come out on the podium there as the competitors can be quite fast. Your other option may be STS, under the catch-all in the rules. The car wit...

Perhaps I'm being naive, but my *hope* is that all our competitors value the competitive spirit and developing their skills more than they value cheating.
I know I hate the feeling when I lose, but greatly appreciate a hard-earned win.

It's not an option. The fuel requirements are in 3.6, which is a required section of the national rules.

Congrats on the Optima event Chad, but I have to say I was incredibly impressed by the times you put down at the Pro for your win in CAM.

Re: First auto cross this weekend
To simplify it for you Jose, at a minimum you need: The Spec suspension package from Tire Rack. Yes, you need the front struts, rear shocks, Pro Plus kit (springs and bars) and the alignment kit (rear arms.) No, you can't use the standard Koni FRS/BRZ dampers or even the factory dampers. The Spec da...

Re: Car Seat Cover
I use these after the gym or any time I've made a mess of myself - say, climbing around beneath a car, lying on the ground. Waterproof, washable. They aren't a "snug" fit, in that they just drape over the seat back / headrest and hang down from that, but it probably does what you need it t...
