Re: Transporter to 2011 Nats - Sign Up List

From Urban Dictionary.... In UK slang terms the "dog's bollocks" means the best. It comes from the habit of male dog's licking their testicles (bollocks) and that they must taste good as they spend so much time in this activity. The concert last night was the dog's bollocks. Why do dogs l...

Tire Warmer for Nats?

I can't make time to tow my car back to Lincoln this year, but have a bunch of frequent flyer miles...so, I'm looking for something to drive. Many of you know me, but for those who don't, I'm easy on equipment, as I can only go fast one day per weekend for some reason. Seriously, I'm a good tire war...

Re: Stock Street Tire Idea?

So...we have one data point being referenced here, the SK1/SK2 classes and a recent divisional... Take a look at entries for the next Tour event offering a street tire index class (2...not percent, two) and normal, r-comp stock classes (30% of entry), Packwood... Then get back to me  That's why...

Re: Stock Street Tire Idea?

I'm not going to get into this debate, as it is circular and I think it unlikely that anything new will surface. At a National level, there is no compelling evidence that street tires are what the membership wants or that such policy would promote participation in stock classes. My point relative to...

Re: Stock Street Tire Idea?

You assume that street tires would "encourage participation" in stock. What is your evidence? Stock, contrary to the provacative story written by Heyward for SoloMatters, is not dead. Does it need attention? Yep. Is the street tire idea worth exploring? Yep. Like I said before, keep your e...

Re: Stock Street Tire Idea?

I would suggest looking at the raw times of SK1 vs. SK2 over the last couple of years both here and SD. Street tires create a weird world in stock. Quoted for insight, truthfulness and informational value :D Laying another layer of "theoretical" on theoretical does have its issues...just ...

Re: July Fastrack

Port installed has been an issue in the past. Does Port installed = Factory installed, or does it = Dealer installed, no matter where the part it ends up being listed on the MSRP. I think it had to do with either Subaru Impreza 2.5's or WRX's back ~ 10 years ago. I don't remember what the outcome w...

Re: July Fastrack

One thing to point out on letters, they are all read and discussed at the committee level.

Don't interpret the line item in Fastrack as purely a "duly noted" kind of response...

On the Mini JCW, write your letters.

So, I can run my 250GTO, but my mid engine car's a no go? Doesn't seem fair, somehow... :P

Packwood

I see there are some folks down in SoCal planning on going to Packwood...very cool, it is a fun time and I look forward to seeing y'all up there! Annie Bauer is being kind enough to let me drive her STR S2K, which should be interesting...sure, I'll get stomped in class, but it should be a blast. :) ...

Re: June Fastrack

Hmmm, I went back and read the Fastrack and don't see a reference for "lite" but I do see a new class with the temporary name "ST new" and I thought that is what you were talking about. There's room for another FWD econbox class because new FWD econoboxes are vastly different in...

Re: June Fastrack

The growing consensus seems to be either both bars or no bars, I've yet to hear anyone say that the current rule is the best solution (even though it may be where things end up)...How does no bars change current classing? What does it do to overall stock class interest levels? If (big "if"...

Re: June Fastrack

Can someone remind me why "ST lite" is being added? I don't get it. Because ST is dominated by cars that are smaller, lower, and lighter than just about anything made in the last 20 years and anything that will probably be produced again. If anything other than an older car is going to be...

Re: June Fastrack

More important (to ME) is the new proposal for ST*. OK haters, (Yom!) no more complaining that 20+ year old crapboxes are killing the sport. So let's play pick the best car for ST(New). I'll take a Mazda 2 with Proparts valved Konis and extra black magic. Can someone remind me why "ST lite&quo...

Re: June Fastrack

Thanks for pointing out the sway bar and camber allowances proposed for stock. Not speaking for the SAC, but my take is that the sway bar proposal is to level the playing field to a greater degree in terms of platforms (AWD, FWD, RWD) and that the thinking behind the alignment methodology allowance ...

^Morgan, you sure made some good points, there...particularly regarding the letters. I also think the point being made about new cars has some legs, too. Re: SCCA Solo Class Article/Discussion

I'll ask again. Can anyone share how you might "limit" shocks? Outside of external items, like reservoirs, give an enforceable example, please. Bill, the "what is a legal tire" issue can be managed...or mismanaged, depending on what a person wants to run. The only thing le...

Re: SCCA Solo Class Article/Discussion

...I'm not opposed to running on 140's and I currently enjoy r-comps, so I'm good either way. Two things come to mind: 1) "140" tires are a joke; they are no more "140" than Max's I.Q. 2.) The moment you outlaw R-D.O.T.s for Stock, that 140 number becomes even a bigger...

Re: SCCA Solo Class Article/Discussion

It is interesting to see the responses/comments, particularly those that look at the article as "unbiased", which it clearly was not. You could just as easily explain the numbers in terms of "cannabilization" of a fixed pool of autocrossers by newly introduced classes. In that ca...
