Re: When 2 Replace the CAT
I doubt you would ever have a problem locally. In a divisional, maybe... at Nationals or a Pro, definitely. Oh, and good luck getting it smogged. So to be SCCA Stock legal, everything must be changed out including the ECU, and wiring harness? For smog, do you say good luck because it's visually obv...

Re: When 2 Replace the CAT
Are these things one can just order from Mazda Motorsports? Should be able to get it from them. However, I would not expect to find 8hp as was said in a previous post. People I know that have done the 50 to 49 state coversion found 2hp. Do you think 2hp, or even 8hp, are going to make up the differ...

Re: When 2 Replace the CAT
An NB Miata would need a new exhaust manifold, ECU, midpipe, and engine wire harness just for starters. Yes, it would be legal if you do it correctly, but it's cheaper to go find another car. I recently did this on my '99 as the pre-cat was causing a CEL. I needed a federal exhaust manifold, an O2 ...

Re: When 2 Replace the CAT
Our '99 Miata has 95K on it. Is there a "standard" when to replace the Cat? Well, the Feds have demanded since 1996 that a catalytic converter be warranted for 8yrs, 80k miles. Also with the advent of OBDII, you will know about anything amiss with the cat long before it becomes more of a ...

..., expect for Jay W. Respect or Except? :D Solo Trials are out there because of the allowed speed that's shown in the rule book is in DIRECT conflict with the allowed speed Irvine has dictated. What is 'actual' with solo2, porche and others is not so relevant. Jay W Uh, the site is used for 1/4-m...

Re: Scangauge II
for DIESELa and DIESELb, the trick to determining which one to use is this: Set one gauge display to GPH (fuel flow in Gallons Per Hour.) Note the reading at idle. either rev the engine in neutral, (1500 rpm in enough) or watch it when accelerating: if that value goes up as revs/load increase, use D...

Re: Scangauge II
Did you set the fuel type to Diesel? They come out of the box set for gasoline. Fuel tank size is only an issue for your distance-to-empty calcs.

Re: Cobra Suzuka S FIA Kevlar Race Seat - $450/OBO
Oh man. The base would fit in the miata, but I think the shoulder's are too wide by an inch. Anyone know if the Suzuka would fit in a 99' miata with roll bar? Won't fit unless you are very short so the seat can be brought up and forward. For an average size person, you won't fit with a stock door p...

Re: Who wants to do a garage co-op in the O.C.?
my suspicion is the extra "A" between head and garage. That's what I thought, but the "a" needs to be an "s", as in Gearhead's Garage. :D Thanks for the heads up. What's interesting about this is that the spelling was correct in my UCP, so I don't know how the a got th...

Re: Who wants to do a garage co-op in the O.C.?
Here in Orange, there are a lot of car shops so the city is probably pretty easy going about that. We're located in a new-ish industrial park that has a couple units open I believe. The issue is that all cars would have to be parked inside each night. I'd get on board with something like this. I'll...

chrome on white!.. :P http://www.ikonique.com/El_Toro/slides/IMG_2360.JPG Fail. No offense to the car's owners, but those are possibly the worst numbers you could have on a car, especially at night. Could not read them at all last year, so we radioed in "white Mitsubishi" a lot... could n...

Re: ANSWERS TO NOTLD
Hey John, May I please make a suggestion? Given the low light, it's going to be very difficult to see proper numbers and class designation much less crappy ones; can you be a real "N*zi" about this and make sure they don't pass tech w/o proper numbers (no tape, not on windows, contrasting...

Re: F/S: Celica GT track car
Companies like Toyota have exemptions with the State of California so they can get regular license plates on cars with non-conforming VIN's: most of my department's prototypes wore standard California plates so they would not attract the extra attention a mfr's plate brings. ...but one of the GM pr...

Re: F/S: Celica GT track car
Having driven one of these at WSIR during one of Danny McKeever's schools I can say that these Celicas are very forgiving and a great starter car for track events and wheel to wheel racing. I don't know what class they would run in with SCCA Club Racing, but its a great, cheap, relaible way to get ...

If she's installing camber plates she's not going to be in stock so a rear bar is a possibility.

Do you have a "streetable" title for that car?
I know the car is not street legal in it's current configuration.
