Re: Trailer for full size pickup?

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions and offers! Here's the details as they currently stand: We [and by we , I mean Eric , with get me an X help from me] pulled the transmission on the side of the road at the travel plaza on exit 185 outside of Flagstaff. One of the bearings in the tail housing wa...

Re: Numbers for Nationals

Will Nationals accept blue tape for a "1" ? Short answer--No. Longer answer--running 1000+ cars in four days is a pretty big logistical feat. The chances are very good that the course workers will not know you or your car, and when watching you and your co-driver blaze past them at speed,...

Re: CRG 125cc Shifter

indeed it was. apparently ES isn't enough of an adrenalin rush. ;) Hmm. A Clements? They already have a shifter kart. But now we have an even better one. Three tire changes for the MR2, and the kart is paid for. :D AND I get a commuter car that I don't hate. :gpower: AND the back of the trailer wil...

Re: Hotel and Flight Info for Nationals

Might I suggest a slight restructuring to the info? Just to make it a little easier to see WHEN folks are coming and going (which might or might not be as important to you as WHO is coming and going). Arrivals 9/10 4:51 p.m. Max Hayter, Annie Bauer, Aaron Goldsmith 9/11 11:32 p.m. Jon Clements 9/13 ...

Uhm, O.K.

I'm just wondering, though, if everyone who is coming actually saw this warning in advance. I'm wondering how many people might get caught by surprise (who, like me, don't generally carry cash and don't routinely check the message board).

Re: What Hotels have you stayed at in Topeka

We've never stayed at a hotel for Nationals (yet another advantage of towing for us), but when I was moving to Colorado for grad school, our rental truck blew an engine, and the rental company paid to put us up overnight at the Clubhouse Inn while they towed us out a replacement truck from Kansas Ci...

Re: When 2 Replace the CAT

Federalizing the black and blue MR2 (the white one and the solid black one started life in Nevada and Ohio, respectively) required not only dropping one of the two cats, but also dropping the CA O2 sensor, changing the computer to a 49-states one, and getting the appropriate 49-states sticker. Befor...

Re: Update on the Transporter to Nats

Random responses... Yesterday, I booked Jonathan on USAir out of Ontario for $99 each way. 3200 miles on a tow vehicle that already has 289K really doesn't matter for resale value. On the measured miles section on the way home from Wendover, we discovered that our odometer only registers .9 of a mil...

Re: 2008 ProSolo Finale, Sept 11-13

this should only conflict with a practice event, as the ProSolo finale runs on Fri-Sat.
Yeah, I'll fly back...

In happier news, Jon's airline tickets were only $198 (well, plus fees, so now $240).

Re: Car Rentals for Nationals

When are you getting in and leaving? You might well be able to hitch a ride to Topeka with someone.

So as to not miss an insane amount of school, Jonathan will arrive at Kansas City International late Thursday night (before the ProSolo Finale) and will fly out Wednesday afternoon.

Re: Congrats on a great Divisional, plus video links

I've gotten a lot of credit, and I really want to point out that it was a team effort. From the course workers and radio people on course doing a great job catching, recording, and calling in cones; to the master radio folks in the trailer conveying them to the computer operators; to the timing log ...

This morning, a lady named Milka first said that she shows a balance due of $80, and then when I explained that I called on 7/2, spoke to Lonnie, and mailed the documentation on 7/8, said that the ticket is actually under review, but that they mailed that notice the day before they received my docum...

Re: Is Formula V Tire Restorer Solo Legal?

We actually specifically addressed this when I was on the SEB, and I thought it made it into the minutes in Fastrack. (Not sure when, unfortunately.) What we said then was pretty much what Jason said above--that it was fine for cars and classes that didn't have to use DOT approved rubber, but that i...

I think Volvo drivers are the worst. They know they can't drive, so they choose a car that hypes its safety stats.

Parking Ticket Mistakes and Now What?

On 6/12, the city of Lomita issued a parking ticket to a red Volkswagen, and the parking officer mistakenly wrote down my license plate number (which has been on a white BMW since at least 2003 when I bought the car). On 6/27, they sent me a notice of illegal parking, which says, "You have 21 d...
