Re: Course data... aquisition in non-OBD2 cars

garmin stuck a couple virbs on KJ's car at nationals one year. Definitely still gives G data without obd2. It's important to keep in mind the differences between accuracy and precision. GPS has 3-15m accuracy (global position) but the short term precision is usually much better than that. Meaning it...

Re: June 11 - 12 videos

why does the shifter paddle rattle around? is it slipping out/re-engaging 2nd gear multiple times before it jumps out of gear or is the car hitting bumps and giggling the shift paddle back into neutral? Could be that the 2nd gear dogs are rounded off, might have to eventually replace 2nd gear/rebuil...

Here's one of my runs from the practice.

edit: don't believe what the video title says, that was a cold tire run in the afternoon. Thus all the sliding, chicken braking, and other mistakes.

2015 VW GTI, stock except for a stg 1 ecu tune. Does that take me out of ST? A tune moves you from Street to Street Touring - I believe the GTI falls into STX. if a stage 1 tune changes the factory boost control in any way (which is very likely) it is not ST legal either. street prepared is the fir...

Re: Regular/Time only/X runs

Agreed on worker turn over being a big issue. Coming from the Ohio Valley Region, where the average event would have comparable attendance (~200), if we got less than 5 runs, we left feeling gypped. the main constraint is that we run two half days back to back. if we allowed running and working on ...

section 13.8.E is the rule you're looking for. E. If offered by the manufacturer for a particular model and year, the use of shims, special bolts, removal of material to enlarge mounting holes, and similar methods are allowed and the resulting alignment settings are permitted even if outside the nor...

Re: Passengers at Champ events

One fact I spotted from this last event now that we allow this. The winner of Novice class did have an instructor in the car for his last and final winning run. I wonder what his/her competitors think about that ? just to be clear, novices are allowed to have instructors on every run and have been ...

Re: Passengers at Champ events

The club will do what they want in the name of fun. At some point we will all no longer be racing solo on Sunday. It becomes more of a TEAM race with instruction on the first runs and then the driver in the car gets to work it out on the last two runs. With this proposed rule change the game can ch...

Re: Passengers at Champ events

CSCC Solo Noun, a thing done by one person unaccompanied, in particular. Verb, perform something unaccompanied, in particular. I believe the "solo" refers only to the number of cars on course, not the number of people in the car. With gap of at least 20 sec behind the car in front of you ...
