Lightweight wheels

I never much paid attention to wheel weights on the Neon. But with the family wanting to campaign that car again Nationally, I've been looking for another pair of 17x9 front wheels. I found a 17x9 5x100 40mm offset wheel that is 17.49lbs each. Is that in the ballpark. It's not as critical as it was ...

Google search came up with a 7500lbs tow rating which is pretty amazing for a comfy family hauler.

Re: Miata NC3 Engine Swaped NC1 legal in CS?

Street Touring wouldn't allow an SP style swap within the listing line. In the case of the NC, the later motors had better internals, an oil cooler, and a 500 rpm higher rev limit. Did the NC3 put on pounds from the NC1 like most models do over time? Doesn't matter from a rules perspective. But make...

Re: Miata NC3 Engine Swaped NC1 legal in CS?

That's a no go on the engine swap to stay in CS.

I'm not so sure the stories of doom and gloom on the NC1 are so accurate. There was an improvement made, yes, but NC1's saw a lot of autocross laps nationwide.

Re: Buttonwillow AutoX Oct 20

We had a couple of Conefests at Buttonwillow on the East loop while PapaCalClub hosted the Drivers School on the West Loop. We BBQ'd for all and had a great Saturday night party. One of the events we featured in SportsCar and we even won an award for the event. But two things stopped us. First, our ...

Re: Thank you for a great August Course

That was hard! But hugely enjoyable. Kicked my backside pretty hard but wanted more. I was thrilled too to coach Robert on a course like that. So many technical elements to really work on skills. Constructive criticism is probably going to center around the tight finish turn. But remember we did fee...

Re: Aug. 3-4, 2019 Santa Anita Park Event

The entrance that makes the most sense for us would be Gate 3 which has a nice traffic signal. Huntington x Holly and accessible from both directions. That doesn't mean that's the entrance they want us to use.... But it seems pretty obvious to me. That's where I'll be headed first in the morning.

Re: "New" Autocross Family Inbound

Robert Baltazar and I are both pretty good with helping with karts and figuring out fits. Eric Nelson is the pro, it's his actual business, so if the parents can't do it, there is a close by back-up. Baltazar was Navy. Navy and Marine's get along ok right?

Re: "New" Autocross Family Inbound

Anybody know Mike Nakata's situation. I haven't seen him. But next year he would have exactly the Karts to match the Guest kids. If we set up co-drives in each, maybe Tom could help lighten the load Mike trying to corral and manage "all that". Thomas-Mike has a daughter in JC and a son in ...

Be sure to come by and say hi! You can't miss Ekstrandlandia. 5 drivers. An obnoxious shifter kart. A death trap Formula Car. My 15yr old SRT-4 resurrected as a training tool. Our mini Class A RV and trailer. And various support cars.... Walk softly and drive a big carbon footprint.

Bill- I'm assuming we will enter from Huntington Drive and Holly Ave. Not official, but seems obvious.

I think the region is looking for somebody to camp overnight next to the timing vehicle. Our street doesn't have much room after I fill it up.

In todays, driving lesson for teen Robert we drove all around Santa Anita and parked for a bit to look out over the lot. It's going to be so sweet! And 7 minutes to my house. But damn that church and convalescence home and houses are close!

Re: Aug. 3-4, 2019 Santa Anita Park Event

I ordered a longer silencer and an airbox for the shifter. Everybody says it should be fine. Annoying in grid still, but rarely over 89 at full song. In most National events since the new bigger Burns Stainless and better tune, the F600 has been in the 87 to 96 range. I have nothing I can do easily ...

We may be using National procedure or rules, but they are 100 not the 93 we are using. Just want that to be clear in case people are assuming what was good at the Fontana Pro will be good at Santa Anita.

Aftermarket short ram and CAI intakes can blow sound too as we found on the little STS Civic.
Technically no factory car (assuming no exhaust cutout used) should blow sound ever as delivered from the factory.

Re: "New" Autocross Family Inbound

Looking forward to your arrival Thomas! My son started running a few days after his 5th birthday. He ran straight through til he turned 15 in December and is now trying to make the jump to open KM in a shifter. He's just too big a kid for the junior weight mins. But my wife and I are still very acti...
