Re: Novice looking for the basics
Hey Garet! It was a pleasure meeting you and Owen this weekend. Just to be clear on your helmet: Your helmet must meet our specifications. Whatever you get, it must have one of these stickers or labels on the inside: https://www.scca.com/downloads/39398-2018-solo-helmet-cert-decals "DOT" p...

Re: Why Get Your Start at Autocross Sunday?
This should be a "sticky". This thread may be a bit outdated. We currently allow passengers on competition runs with no penalty. Bring a friend. Bring Tom Berry. It doesn't matter anymore. Our general sentiment is that locally we do want to keep the "fun factor" up as high as po...

Re: New Racer Hello/Questions
Our Sunday novice program is a little more structured than our Saturday stuff. That being said, we have a small team working on a more formalized Saturday program as well. At a minimum, I've been asking the newbies to stay after the Saturday morning driver's meetings and I've been trying to get them...

Re: New Racer Hello/Questions
Hey Owen, If you want to get your feet wet this weekend, sign up for Sunday's event (as Rick said, Saturday is sold out). We have a novice course walk (usually around 8:00 am) hosted by Leonard Cachola (our humble Novice Coordinator). We also have dedicated Instructor lanes where you can have one of...

Re: Second Timer, question about guests
Hi Ernesto In order for your nephew to be able to ride in a car, you would need to get both of his parents to sign: https://dk1xgl0d43mu1.cloudfront.net/user_files/scca/downloads/000/014/420/SCCA_Minor_CA_Notary_1068_09_15.pdf?1461713670 That waiver would also need to be notarized and in color also...

Re: Tires... what happened to them? Does it mean anything? What next?
I don't know that there's any preferred water sprayer brand, but the metal stem is a good call. You'll have to decide between a 1 Gal and a 2 Gal sprayer. A one gallon sprayer is perfectly adequate for 95% of events (and much lighter, etc.). But, your car has wider tires, so on hot practice days in ...

Re: Second Timer, question about guests
First of all, passengers (over 12) are welcome any time, even on your competition runs. For adult passengers, a passenger wristband (sign our passenger book and get a wrist band) is all that is required. For a minor (12-18) to ride in a car, you'll need to have a minor waiver completed and signed by...

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?
Although the discussion has wandered quite a bit from the initial topic question, I've got an opinion to throw into the side discussions....I'm not a fan of segmenting the novices off from the pack. While I get the fact that there are times that novices create small issues for the veteran crowd, I d...

To specifically answer your question: Check out the cars on our http://www.solo2.com web site for photos. You'll see some of the many ways you can approach numbers. The rules say minimum 8" tall for the numbers and 4" tall for the class. You can order nice numbers online or from a local si...

From the SoloMatters FB post: ONLINE Solo Safety Steward Class: December 13th This Solo Safety Steward (SSS) online class is the first formal step to become an SCCA-licensed SSS. This can also be used to renew or update your 3-year SSS/SSI license. The overall purpose is so we can continue having fu...

Interested in becoming a Solo Safety Steward?
I don't know if it's too late for this....but Kevin just shared it with me, and I thought I'd try and get the word out: There is an online Solo Safety Steward Class on December 13th. It's at 9:00PM PST (it's geared toward Hawaii region's timezone). If joining the SSS team sounds interesting to you, ...

Re: Tires... what happened to them? Does it mean anything? What next?
FYI: Unfortunately, tires will probably be your biggest expense autocrossing. And, as you know, Corvette tires aren't cheap! But that being said, you'll be able to use your tires a heck of a lot more than 3 or 4 events. As Rick said, the junk on your tires is OPR and nothing to be concerned about. Y...

Keep an eye on our registration page ( http://solo2.motorsportreg.com/ ) and sign up when it goes live (probably in a week or two). So what kind of car are you bringing out? We'll make su...
