Re: CS miata question

Bob Beamesderfer wrote: So how about two on the Tire Tail, one in the trunk and one on the parcel shelf?
It's just a matter of shelling out the dough for the hitch and tail. There's other expenses I want to deal with before that, though.

Re: CS miata question

S'ok. Been looking at my options and I'm getting there... it won't happen this season, though, as I've still got another set of Falkens to go through before this happens. Considered a tire tail, but I don't like the idea of putting that much load on the rear shocks for the 110 mile round-trip. I've ...

Done it before for short distances as they do all fit - just can't see out the passenger or rear view mirrors...

Colin Langeveld wrote:Will I get bumped into STS2 because of this? Would me bolting the seat directly to the floor of the car altogether take me out of CS too?
Next step up from CS is CSP as no Miatas in CS (99+) are allowed in STS2. But, yeah, bolting the seat would be a no-go for CS.

Re: Are there any Los Angeles area events?

Closest SCCA Solo events to Burbank are our events out in Fontana, though we don't have another one scheduled there until the night event in August. We do have a divisional coming up July 18-20 down at the ol' El Toro base in Irvine, but that's it for LA area SCCA solo for the summer.

Re: Legal LSDs

Is this the case? I'm thinking of buying a Mini Cooper S which comes with an optional factory installed LSD for $500. Would this car be legal for G Stock, or would I have to move up in class? Yes, the car is legal for stock class. Whoever told you otherwise doesn't know what the heck they're talkin...

Been awhile since you've run stock class, eh, Bob? =) We can't run triple adjustables in stock class.

Re: Henry I was wrong

The new Miata's are so softly sprung that they can't be rescued with stiff shocks. Leonard sold his. They have to go straight to CSP so you can get stiffer springs. I did a run with one on Saturday. The paddle shifters were fun to down shift going into corners but sometimes difficult to reach with ...

Re: Course Finish Standard

I did mention the ambiguous finish during both novice course walks - one person suggested that using gates instead of two lines of cones for the elements leading up to the finish would have been a better solution so we could actually SEE where it ended. As soon as you made that right hander leading ...

Re: How do you determine if a Miata has the Sport package?

The '99 didn't have an "LS" - that was introduced in one of the later years (2001 and later, I believe) - but there was a Leather Package option for '99.

I think the tops are the same up until recently (if then even).....except some of the early ones had plastic rear windows....and different qualities from different suppliers....but fit was the same. But check in case I"m wrong! Reijo Looks like you'd have to replace both the frame and the top ...
