Rainy Day Procedures?

This weekend will be my first event in wet/rain conditions. I'm wondering, beyond the driving experience being like a wet skid pad, what else is different at the event? Are you allowed to bring an umbrella out when you work course? I know a course worker fiddling around with an umbrella might create...

Re: 2014 Points Cards

I know I'm a little late to the 2014 points card party...but: I registered for a points card and paid online over a week ago. I got a Paypal receipt, but that was about it. Am I in?...or too late?...or just confused? I'll go with answer A and C. Ping Kurt Rahn (you can message him through the site)...

Merry Christmas

I just wanted to take a moment to wish all of the great folks I've met while autocrossing this year a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year. As a newbie, it's sometimes hard to get involved in a new organization, but not with this group. From that very first moment I walked up the to registration ...

Re: AX'ers GoKarting ....

I just wanted to chime in with a quick endorsement. If you enjoy autocrossing, you'll enjoy this head-to-head competition. I'm always looking for some father/son bonding opportunities, and this event fit the bill nicely. At 52, I was one of the oldest guys driving (and by far the biggest!), and at 1...

Re: Course Setup Workers Needed July 26th-27th

Randy you are welcome to help but this wont count as your work assignment. Only taking two. Hey Jonathan, Yeah, I got that. I'm just interested in the course design/implementation process, so it's a place where we'd like to get involved a bit. Don't really care about work assignment credit, always ...

Re: Course Setup Workers Needed July 26th-27th

Do you have a time for Friday yet? We're happy to help out or whatever. Don't know if it matters, but we don't have a truck...but we do have enough trunk space to carry around a few stacks of cones. Either way, let us know how we can help.

I'm pretty sure I can change my work schedule, so go ahead and count me and my son in. We'll be there anytime you need us.

Re: July 27th Practice Registration Open

Hey...what's the deal with X-Runs? How do you sign up for them? Is it online, or do you just inquire when you're checking in on-site? Just tell the fine folks at registration that you'd like to purchase them and they'll get you set up. There are a limited amount available for each run group, and th...

What time do you need someone there on Friday? If I can figure out my work schedule tomorrow, I might be able to grab my kid (14 yo, hard worker type) and we can help out.

Re: Newbie Course Question

Thanks for the additional input and the link to the tips. All good stuff! I've got a lot to learn for sure. Fortunately, I've found that everybody at these events has been very friendly and helpful. And yes, I'll be asking for advice and a bunch of other newbie questions as I figure this thing out!

Re: Newbie Course Question

Thank you for the input Craig. And just to be clear, I'm not in any way trying to be critical of the course designer. I appreciate the efforts of Jeff and all of the folks helping out to make this endeavor a great time for all. My question is simply for my education and an attempt at truly understan...

Newbie Course Question

Link to PDF of Sunday 6/23/2013 Course Layout: http://forums.solo2.com/download/file.php?id=2554 Referring to the course layout from Sunday 6/23/2013 I've got a newbie type of question. There is a section at the top of the course with three cones (up near 19 and 20 in the upper right), a cone with a...

Re: The OS Giken SoPac Super Regional - FAQ for Locals

Assuming I bring all the appropriate waivers, is it OK to bring my 14yo son out to Friday practice to ride along with me? Also, I know, being a minor, he can't be out on the track working during any hot laps. Are there any work assignments available that we could do together? Help setup the course o...

Re: NO WORK, Charity Practice, Jun 8-9 AAA "Inside the Oval"

Hey Jay, As a participant, I wanted to say thank you for hosting a great event. As a beginner, the opportunity to make run after run after run was very helpful. Great group of people and a fun time for all. Also a big thank you to the guy who did tech (at least I think he was the same guy) who helpe...

I try to talk to at least one Novice an event...probably not a good thing ... but its my attempt at least at making new folks feel welcomed, I know I had a hard time my first few events and it wasn't a particularly pleasant experience. As a novice (first time ever autocrossing), I can say that...

Re: Question about bringing my kid with me.

Karen and I run the CalSpeed Arrive & Drive GoKart SuperSeries ... which kids can run in also, although it would be a coincidence if it and our Auto Crosses were running at the same time. The SuperSeries requires all of ones time, so one couldn't do both. CalSpeed GoKarting has a number of diff...

Also, just to clarify, he doesn't have to work at all unless he's participating in the event as a driver. No work is required from passengers. I realize that work is not required for him. I just thought the "hang out" would be better with us together the entire time. Also, he's the type o...
