Re: Car Classification Help
Aaron, Within official SCCA classes, it sounds like you'd be in Super Street Modified due to the modified cam (which I believe exceeds Street Prepared's allowances.) We also have a local class called, coincidentally, California Street Modified (CSM). This is a "run what you brung" class on...

Re: Kia Stinger GT AWD or RWD?
Ron, are you asking specifically for competition use or just for street use? (I have no experience with the car and don't know any answers for you, but that could be useful info for someone else.)

Re: January 12-13, 2019 Autocross & Test n Tune
Could you design a course that doesn't adversely affect competition in SSC? lol, going for PAX SSC next year? Oh, heck no. That index is impossible in PAX. But it just. doesn't. matter. in the actual SSC class. I guess my attempt at humor wasn't clear enough... Edited to add: Though Reed certainly ...

Re: New Guy, 06 Mini Cooper S
I'll chime in too. If it truly is completely stock - including the tune - you don't want to even *think* about going into DSP. Those cars are highly modified. Stick with DS if you're absolutely stock, otherwise consider our CST (California Street Touring) class which basically lets you do whatever y...

Re: Proposed CST pax modifier adjustment
I'd make the Pax 1.200. I LOLed. I'm with Anthony on this. CST is wide frikkin' open. Put 20 square feet of wings on an Ariel Atom with the insane 8 cylinder forced induction engine and that thing will make XP look like a bunch of kindergarten push cars. Everyone in CST is competing against themsel...

California Street Touring.
It's our local "run whatcha brung" class for 200+ treadwear tires.

Re: What Class Is My Car?
Those are all fine in SM.
Locally, Reed's suggestion to run in CST is a good one. There are talented drivers running there in cars with which you'll have fun competing, then as you move towards SM you can consider switching when you feel it's most appropriate.

Re: What Class Is My Car?
Our timing was interesting. I edited just as you wrote that. Yes, I'm pretty sure that's where you'd be. Have you done ANYTHING else to the car? Street Mod has pretty open allowances, but it's definitely not completely open. Post any other changes you have from stock and we'll be able to comment mor...

Re: What Class Is My Car?
Your built motor is the major problem. There isn't any provision in either ST or SP to alter the compression ratio (edited to add:) or any other internal engine modifications. My guess is you've built for forced induction, right? Did you change or alter the rods, pistons, heads, crankshaft, oil pump...

Re: Free trailer(s)
Matt has about 200 "Beat up" cones from us, a cooler or two and something else I can't recall. (I say "beat up" because they're pretty heavily scarred, but WAY better than what the RallyX people are using right now.) What's more interesting is WE have about 200-250 nearly new con...

Re: Free trailer(s)
Bill, can you come down to Orange County this weekend? I believe they're in the Orange area - their kids went to El Modena High in Orange, so it's likely best for you to meet over that direction. Alternatively if I coordinate with them to bring them to my house, I'm pretty conveniently off the 261 t...

Re: Free trailer(s)
As it turned out we couldn't break open the larger trailer. Both the nifty "spanner lockpick trick" that Anthony directed me to and the biggest, bad-assest bolt cutters simply couldn't break open the Master locks that were on that trailer. The bolt cutters had a straight jaw, not anything ...

Re: Free trailer(s)
I have takers for both trailers, so I'll be on site tomorrow to break them open and discard the contents. Ken Motonishi has graciously allowed us to use AMCI's dumpster for the disposal, so we don't have to order a dumpster to be delivered. If anyone is interested in helping, please let me know. My ...

Free trailer(s)
By Wednesday, October 31st we have to move or remove the two trailers the region owns from their current location, parked alongside the hangar at El Toro. The tires are flat and probably cracked on the sidewalls due to sun damage, age and inflation. I likely can inflate them, but they should be repl...

Re: PSCC/Morgan Plus 4 Event
On top of that, thank you Brian for being the Event Chair. I think we isolated the timing problems to a new condition. It was either low batteries in the finish lights or a bad angle for the receiving unit toward the sun, but once both of those were corrected the remaining runs were flawlessly timed.

So here's a fun one...
I was watching some TV a few weeks ago and saw a new car ad getting air play. It's a Kia ad, showing a "race" version of the Forte and the street version. It's quite distinctive, and I *thought* it looked like it may have been filmed at El Toro. So I decided to step through it on my DVR, f...

Re: Heritage Classic Street(HCS) Rim size, what's legal?
David, The Heritage Classic class isn't under the purview of the SEB, so you likely aren't going to get a response from them but rather from Doug Gill. It does not build off any category in Solo; it's a standalone regional class or category, not legal for National competition. I was on the SEB when ...

Re: Heritage Classic Street(HCS) Rim size, what's legal?
David, are those *all* the rules pertaining to HCS wheels and tires? If they are, don't confuse 13.3 with 13.4 where it's quoted in this thread. In my opinion, given what was quoted above, you can use any metallic wheel, which means any diameter, any width, any offset. 13.3 is *specifically* about t...
