Re: NOTLD's Future: The Discussion and Poll

1. Saftey ----a. Tired course workers ----b. Tired drivers ----c. The drive home I agree with Glenn here - everyone knows it's a night event and should prepare accordingly. As a morning person, I was a bit concerned about falling asleep on the way home from NOTLD, so I made a concerted effort to res...

Working on it still.
Know what you mean - that was the best I've driven all year and it was only good enough for sixth in class!

Re: From the NOTLD Event Chair

For those of you who'd like to relive the course: here's video of my runs at 1:30 a.m. Surprised I didn't keel over from fatigue and sleepiness. My fastest of my four runs was #3 with a 35.1xx- note that I'm on 2 year-old Azenis on my Miata in SK2. Run #1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dnFa76699I ...

Re: From the NOTLD Event Chair

I wanted to take the time to thank the instructors for this event for helping things go smoothly when needed: Tom Berry, Lisa Severy, Scott McHugh and everyone else who helped out. It's always good when novices leave with a positive experience as it increases the likelihood they'll come back and may...

Re: Passengers allowed??

Just a couple of quick notes: You can't be an instructor until after you've competed and only approved instructors are allowed to instruct. Cool. Can someone provide the link to fill out needed forms and such or who I need to chat with to become an instructor? B There aren't any forms. Just talk to...

Re: Passengers allowed??

Funny how that rule was to eliminate the unfair advantage of grabbing a top dog driver to coach you around the course, yet our instructor rules specifically create that exact situation! Now you know why I asked to be an instructor in another thread :) The more times I see the course.... B Just a co...

Re: NOTLD - A REALLY IMPORTANT change to the flyer

In the past novice runs and X runs were not allowed. Working in the dark is more difficult. I highly recommend we not allow novice runs for the NOTLD - I could be wrong, but you had to have participated in at least a couple of events before you could run NOTLD the last time I competed in one, but I...

Re: Whats the best cheap used car to buy for AutoCross?

The real bonus is Mazda's support program. Register through MazdaMotorsports.com (requires your SCCA membership and some other easier stuff), compete in the car for at least two events per year and you're eligible for huge discounts on factory parts for the car. Mike Definite plus for owning and au...

Re: Whats the best cheap used car to buy for AutoCross?

They just don't make too many 15-16 inch rim race tires that will fit on narrow stock rims. I don't think a 275-50-15 Hoosier will work on a 15x7 rim for example. What size rims do Miatas run? It depends on the year. The first gen Miata's ('90-'93) ran 14 x 5.5, except for some of the special editi...

Leonard, you can store them--trailer or tires--in fact, you can use my trailer--at my house in Ontario. Change them here or pick-um up... What's another stack of tires or a trailer they would be amongst friends. Don Thanks, Don. I may take you up on that offer someday soon. We'll talk later. :D

Re: New Class Killer?

These cars have a surprisingly low center of gravity as most of the weight is BELOW the driver. So, tipping over would be pretty difficult - saw a video of this on an autocross course and it's just shocking how good it looks out there.
