Re: 2013 Accord Sport

I remember being very impressed by this Accord during one of my first times working course, last year. Hope this finds a good home :)

Re: JUNE 16th Starting line School, help needed.

Any more info for potential attendees of this school? (Costs, registration, etc). I have a friend whom I've been trying to get to come out for a few months, now. Maybe he can finally make it... He'd be driving my Bolt, too; so I might either attend or at least shag cones. Nevermind, found it: https:...

Re: May 5/6 2018 Practice and Championship Registration is Open!

Robert: My Chevy Bolt is all alone in H Street at the moment.

I MIGHT have a friend in Novice on Sunday so maybe 3 drivers can run that way.
I don't think he'll drive on Saturday.

Tires are Nexen SUR4G, I've also got spare Hankook RS4s mounted up in case the Nexens cord.

X-ray wheels for damage

Any recommendations on places in the LA area that can X-ray used wheels and control arms for cracks? And how much would that cost? Thanks.

Re: Break and shaking up

Mark: cars need to warm up, especially as they get older and parts begin wearing out, small gaps get bigger. Metal expands as it gets hotter, so gaps get filled in and there's less vibration.

H Street Bolt EV ProSolo codrive available

Any experienced FWD drivers want to take a stab at this for the ProSolo? The single-speed transmission is easy-to-launch and there's few moving parts to break or wear out compared to a normal car doing drag launches. It'll probably be the quickest car off the line in H Street with peak torque at 0 R...

Re: ProSolo codrive

Hi James, interested in trying my Bolt EV in HS with 225/45-R17 Nexen SUR4G tires? There's only two entries in HS at the moment. Two of my tires have 6/32" left, but one is around 2/32" and the other at 3/32" so the worn ones will go in the back. I'm pretty sure they'll go 24 runs if ...

Re: Whoo Hoo! The PRO Solo is Here!

The extra $50 for Evo school is a bit much at the moment and I'm not sure how much of Friday I can attend. I was a bit hesitant to even do this at $130.

Re: Whoo Hoo! The PRO Solo is Here!

How many seconds will there be in between runs? No spraying tires once I've started my four runs, right?
I'm pretty sure the Nexens will be fine with that...

Re: Whoo Hoo! The PRO Solo is Here!

In for H Street! Aside from the drag launch, anything else a first timer should be aware of in how this differs from one of our local events?

The launch should be easy in an EV, at least :D

Re: Break and shaking up

Check your lug nut torque, loose ones can also cause this.

If you have new brake rotors or pads, they could be insufficiently bedded-in:

Re: tire sizing and load index (H Street)

Yes, I noticed the lack of constant tire squeal during my runs which I might have interpreted as a sign to drive harder. I suppose distinguishing "slip" from "slide" will be the next step for me.

Re: tire sizing and load index (H Street)

I kept them around 46psi throughout, lowering them after my 2nd or 3rd run. The little triangles on the sidewall are all still visible, which is a first for me. Maybe the pressure was too high and a little rollover is preferable to losing grip and sliding early? But I think it's mainly a driver prob...

Re: tire sizing and load index (H Street)

Thanks again Max! I had a nice improvement in consistency and the tires looked great after my competition runs on Sunday. Unfortunately I sprayed too late into fun runs and my right front only has the center thread left. The left front isn't far behind, either. I'll be rotating for the next event an...

Yup, looks like there's a good side I can use on them.
I'll be there both days if it's easier for you to split the transport, I will be with my Bolt and have plenty of carrying capacity :)

Re: tire sizing and load index (H Street)

Hey Max, $75 for the whole set? Wow, definitely worth the experiment and I'll be at Fontana both days this weekend. I've had 225/50s on the car before but there was some rub under hard braking while turning at the same time; the smaller diameter of the 45s should clear it and I've learned to be a sm...

Re: tire sizing and load index (H Street)

Thanks all for the responses. Most of my wear is coming from the shoulders so don't know if there's a way to solve that by putting better tires in a camber-challenged car. I've flipped one pair and will probably flip the other pair after this weekend. Will also try to drive more conservatively to ex...

tire sizing and load index (H Street)

It's looking like I'll need new tires in March and maybe I should pre-order a set in case I destroy them sooner. I'll also be doing some autocrosses outside of Cal Club in February. I'm still new at this and tend to over drive, so I don't think I'll be ready for expensive TW200 tires, yet. The popul...

Re: How to tell which group is running?

I've been tuning to 90.9 at the December and January events. I only remember seeing it posted during registration at the last El Toro event back in September, and my car at the time did not have an antenna.

Re: How to tell which group is running?

It's tough to hear the PA in most of the paddock area; so maybe setting up some boomboxes to 90.9 FM will help.
I can leave my windows down and radio blasting 90.9 FM when I'm working or wandering about; but it doesn't help when I'm running.

Re: Membership Poll...How long is too long?

As a relative newbie, I wouldn't mind having 3 competition runs along with free fun/X runs immediately afterwards. And if I'm available, I'd buy X-runs in the afternoon, too. What I would really like to have is flexibility: sometimes I might only be available in the morning, and some days I might be...
