Re: First auto cross this weekend
Welcome to the region Jose! There are a number of important posts in this very forum, with lots of background. Please peruse them for great info. I would strongly suggest planning for a cooler and some water. There is some food nearby - Carl's Jr, Del Taco, Taco Bell, some other stuff too - and I th...

Re: Honoring John Edwards
I added it to my calendar. I think the info was somewhere on this site.
I can't guarantee this is correct, but I have it from 11:00 am - 4:00 pm at his shop, located at 123 Monte Vista in Costa Mesa.
Perhaps someone else can confirm that this is correct.

Local tire shaving?
Does anyone know of a local vendor (where local=within ~60 miles of El Toro) that will shave brand new, unused tires?

Gas tax ballot petition
I almost put this in the Off Topic forum, but we all use fuel for our sport so... There is an effort being made to petition for a ballot initiative in the elections later this year. The gist of it is to repeal the newly enacted gas tax increase, as well as the car registration increase. If you would...

Re: 2018 Event Statistics
Rick, I see your point - and it's correct - but it's not in disagreement with Mike's point. His point was to emphasize to all drivers before their fun runs that if they've spun and ruined their run, they should be conscientious enough to proceed without taking out more cones. I have to agree with th...

Re: Magnetic Number Vendors?
In addition to the rules Randy provided, keep in mind the idea is making them easily legible. Think "contrast," since that makes them very quickly and easily read by course workers and timing trailer staff. If you have a dark blue car, don't go with black. Get them in white. If you have a ...

Re: Post Car Classing Help Questions Here!
Tjennings, be sure to pre-register for our events at solo2.motorsportreg.com. If you don't have a MSR user ID, you'll need to set one up. We've gone to a pre-reg / pay online process, where your card won't be charged until the event. I'd suggest following Chad's suggestion, checking out the Facebook...

Re: Post Car Classing Help Questions Here!
A couple thoughts: CST This is our "catch all" class on Street Tires. Basically you have to use 200+ treadwear tires and the car is supposed to be able to be registered for street use. Other than that, pass Tech Inspection and you're good. The cars there are not vintage like yours, but you...

Re: 2018 Event Statistics
I'll add that course design has a lot to do with it, in addition to the other awareness issues already mentioned. This course was good in the sense that there seemed to be relatively few cone hits. The course was easy to "see" yet difficult to get "right". We could have accomplis...

Re: Honoring John Edwards
Dangit! I'm angry about this... and sad too. I always loved his little 500. When he first showed up with it, that thing had so much roll it looked like a clown car trying to drag the door handles in every turn. I was amazed it didn't go bottoms-up. Then he started working on the suspension a little ...

FS - 1990 Miata project car and lots of parts - SOLD
Just a quick update to let everyone know the car is no longer available. Rick and Kevin Jung will have a nice project to do together! I've finally moved into the new house and need to clear some space. I have a 1990 Miata that would make a great project car for someone. The car is located at my hous...

Hey everyone, Just thought I'd add to Eric's post. The Solo Town Hall is a meeting we on the SEB (Solo Events Board) do at Nationals each year. It's typically on Monday - between the last day of the Pro Solo Finale and the first day of Nationals - and runs for about an hour and a half. It's a way fo...

And no, I'm not kidding. I'm stopping by Total Wine on my way over to the site. (No drinking allowed at El Toro though...) Now that I have your attention, we *really* need help setting up the course this afternoon / evening. Here's the thread in the Events forum: http://forums.solo2.com/viewtopic.ph...

Drones at events
There are several inexpensive drones available on the market now, and I believe we've even seen drone footage at one of our own events. As cool as it was to see that, the SCCA now has an official position and it effectively means we can't have drones at events. The only way they are allowed is if (1...

Re: 2014 San Diego Dates
We "lost" a computer Bill. That's the first time in quite a while that we've had registration problems, and it didn't go under the radar for event management.
We anticipate having our regular "whiter whites, brighter brights" registration in effect going forward.

Are any of our members spray foam insulation contractors?
If not, do you know of any you'd recommend?
I'm looking into closed-cell ceiling insulation for about 1025 square feet at 5" of thickness. Since this stuff is pricey, I'd prefer to route the business to "one of our own."

Re: March 21st Course setup volunteers
FYI All cones are in the motorhome, not the trailer. Basically everything except the blower is in the motorhome, so you can actually unhook the trailer and leave in the storage area (need to reposition first, it was totally dark when dropped off). Please drive slowly and carefully, not packed for t...
