FREE 1999-2000 stock cloth passenger seat back cover

Free to anyone who needs it: I have a brand new OE cloth upholstery for the seat back of the passenger seat for a 1999-2000 Miata. I can bring it to the practice this weekend or to the Super Regional next weekend.

SALE PENDING 2001 Miata shop manual and supplements

Since I no longer have the Miata, I would like to find a home for the shop manual. It is 8-1/2 x 11 loose leaf format in a large 3-ring binder. The engine & transmission manuals, body shop manual, and wiring manual are all included, as bound 8-1/2 x 11 books inside the binder. I'll sell it for $...

Re: June 9 & 10 AAA "Inside" Practice Reg Open

Will the event be organized so that 2 drivers in 1 car would get more runs with separate entries vs. a shared entry?

MyAutoEvents is down this evening. It was down last night too. I don't know if that's making it hard for people to register. It's making it hard for me to register!

Re: June Super Regional Registration Open

Des, the July Fastrack is likely to have the classification for the FR-S/BRZ. If it comes out in the next two weeks, T&S will know which index to use.

Re: Shop to weld exhaust

Ron at Exhaustman seems to be a bit of an artiste. Apparently cutting a J-bend to make a smaller angle bend isn't how he likes to do things. But it seems to me that it might be the best way to make it fit exactly without using excess tubing. His focus seems to be on truck exhaust systems. Lots of ro...

Shop to weld exhaust

I'm looking for a muffler shop in the Azusa/Duarte/Glendora/Covina area to weld together a single exit axle-back muffler. Exhaustman in Azusa didn't like the J-bends I brought him -- wanted the exact angles because he wants his work to look pretty. Proper routing and alignment is my priority, over g...

Re: June Super Regional Registration Open

I don't see the stock street tire ladies classes on the class pull-down.

Will the "street tire" classes be combined into RTR/RTA/RTF, or SK1/SK2?

The main hoop would certainly be stronger if it didn't have that aesthetically-motivated dip in the middle.

Re: Tom Berry! Another Miata course?

I'd say that cars that launch well compared to anything else they might do at an autocross would do better in PAX results at a ProSolo, and cars that launch poorly compared to their other performance characteristics would do worse. Consider that PAX is based on the particular weighting of performanc...

If you'd ask Jeff, he'd tell you he got the S2000 because he likes it better as a daily driver. At the time, he thought the S2000 was not quite as good for STR, but he didn't care.

Re: May FasTrack

If the most (or only) convincing reason for making the change is a new development that most people aren't aware of, it doesn't seem really productive to ask the membership at large whether to make the change without presenting the reason it's being suggested. I sort of feel that if you can't tell t...

Re: May FasTrack

Nothing, because durometer correlates only loosely with wear. And only loosely with performance, too. Some people use durometer measurements to determine when a particular tire has gotten old, because they took a measurement when it was new. That's what it's good for.

Re: May FasTrack

Besides the magic Toyo BS, there has been some word that some people from some tire companies talked to some people at the SCCA and suggested that they would prefer it if the SCCA tire standards matched the standards for other organizations that use street tires. For whatever that's worth, which isn...

Re: May FasTrack

I ended most of them by asking if we really wanted to apply different safety rules to different classes, Howard would say 'no'. The rollover guidelines are the same for all the classes. For cars where it's not obvious, you determine the SSF if possible, or else you measure the track width and overa...

Re: May FasTrack

The rollover guidelines still apply to cars that are classed in ST, SP, and the more modified classes, and should be applied when necessary. In Stock, it's possible to directly correlate being classed with not being a rollover risk, because in Stock you aren't allowed to play with the track (okay, +...

Re: May FasTrack

there is nothing in the ST rules that prohibit 2 groove tires. Nothing explicit, but there is the exclusion list. there's also nothing preventing anyone from shaving legal st tires down to zero tread (other than they would likely suck because of the variable hardness tread compounds they use to giv...
