Re: Two valve design for nitrogen purge - exactly how?

Could be that your desert air was very dry to start with ? Yeah maybe. But my compressor tank drains water off the bottom like everybody else's. And it's the compressed air that goes into the tire, not quite the same stuff I breathe. But again...it's a dead simple test. Put a couple of inflated tir...

Re: Two valve design for nitrogen purge - exactly how?

This comes up so often. Can anyone point to a link where the benefits of nitrogen are confirmed by test data? The only tests I've seen showed no discernible difference. Yeah, everyone has logical reasons for what they think. Just no supporting data. edit -- here's one of the testing articles: http:/...

Going to San Diego this weekend?

And live or work near Anaheim? I need a piece of special plastic for my rallycar from a supplier in Anaheim and it's too long for UPS. They're only open M-F 7:30 - 5, so not much notice. It's about 6' x 2' x 1/8" so not a big deal. They're at: INDUSTRIAL PLASTIC SUPPLY, INC. 2240 DUPONT DRIVE A...

Re: Going to the court for speeding - Need advice

With all due respect Bill, this is not an appeal. This is a new trial. The trial by declaration is moot. Turns out you're right -- and a little wrong. It is by definition an appeal. But the California Vehicle Code formats it as a new trial as if the original had not happened. So the officer must ap...

Re: Going to the court for speeding - Need advice

Typically de novo is limited to what was done with the previous evidence. I.E. procedural errors. New evidence is only allowable if you have a sound reason it was unavailable to you at the previous hearing. Like a traffic-cam picture shows up in the mail only after your hearing and proves it wasn't ...

I think the life of the tire is about the same. You wouldn't want to go more then 60 laps anyway. To slow by then. My toe is not very straight either. Depends also on whether you're concerned with wearing out the rubber, or losing grip. Many people consider the life of a race tire to be in number o...

And they have a terrible reputation. Many think they're all scammers.

I had one years ago who would put you on hold for 1 hr+. My mechanic finally refused to use them, and they got away without paying.

Has that ever been done? For any driver meeting? You ask them to come -- they do or they don't. I guess we could dip their fingers in purple ink.

BTW, if I were King (not likely anytime soon) I would hold drivers meetings: Part 1 -- News You Can Use. Anything different or unique to today. Four runs? New grid system? Anything of a new or different nature of interest to all. Then all the regulars leave. And ask them to spread the word, since ha...

Re: A rant and an explination....

Craig has it right. If safety meetings were mandatory, that requirement would be in Paragraph 6, EVENT OPERATION. There is no logical reason to bury an important requirement like that back in the appendixes. Now I don't have the most current book. Has that requirement shown up in 6? Otherwise, at be...

I hafta agree with Bill (Jeez that hurt). People come off the sleds all the time and are totally at the mercy of ballistics. I assume the pillars just support the roof and that could have been accomplished with a cantilevered structure from much further to the side. You'd think there would be catch ...

Nasa RallySport insurance cost me about $500 last year for a rallycross I put on. But I see they also do sand drags and motorcycle stuff, so maybe they would write LPTT. The guy in charge of this stuff lives up here in Ridgecrest and I can put you guys into contact with him. Can't hurt to ask.

Re: That explains everything – ZERO suspension travel

the shock bodies are too long. Jeff already said he'd fix it. end of story, no? Not sure. You don't get more stroke by shortening the shock body...but you can center it up that way, which is a good thing. Maybe good enough. Even Jeff said it was only a little over two inches total travel to the bum...

I guess I should have gotten on this sooner because I can't remember all the questions. a) I have a Lola T540 formula ford, previously CM (& past national champ) now being refitted for BM. You'll see it back later this year. Faster! In no particular order: FF takes far less upkeep and maintenanc...

Re: That explains everything – ZERO suspension travel

Reading through your posts it appears your total front travel is maybe 3.5", minus the amount of bumpstop you want to run. So what...maybe 2.5" of travel before hitting BS? And if you're lucky enough to be able to center your stroke, you'll have a little over an inch up and down? Is that s...

I know most have a slope, and I know to do camber you need left/right level, but back to the question for RIDE HEIGHT is a measure to the (sloping and decently smoothed concrete) garage floor correct? I think it is. If you stack tiles to remove the slope & l/r inconsistency then I think your ri...

FS: Longacre lap timer

Consists of an on-dash display, an optical receiver, and two track-side beacons with tripods. Displays your lap or segment times as you drive plus records the results. Serious bargain at $100, but I've gone GPS so no longer use it. Not useful for Auto-X...more like track days and maybe DIY practices...

Anyone? Expert? Garage floor good enough? :ibrightdea: depends on the garage. Is your garage floor flat? There is no such thing as a flat garage floor, they all have a slope for water drainage, how much depends on the the codes at the time the house or garage was built. Tch. I have a flat (horizont...

Not ideal, but you can always create a new email account and have it forward to your normal email address (this way, you still have access to it in case you ever need to reset the password, etc). Otherwise, there's always the "10 minute email" program that will work for validating an acco...

I don't see how to make this work. I tried opening a new account for Kathy, but it insists on using our email address for user ID and validates the new account through that address, so I can't use a phony one. Since Kathy and I have the same email address, only one of us can have an AXW account.
