Re: Just Double Checking ... on a Corner Balanced car ...
It's a sad fact that if you can measure to 1/32", you'll find the chassis won't cooperate. Every time you drive around the block and recheck, numbers will be a little different. Best you can do is measure a few times and settle for a good average. Another reason I'm not big on shop alignments.....

McMaster also has these, which maybe you can use with Marshall's tubing:

Re: Just Double Checking ... on a Corner Balanced car ...
Adam has it right. Adjust the car ballasted for driver. When the driver steps out, the left side may raise a tad in height. But matching diagonals works best with cars that are symmetrical, like formula cars, or which require enough ballast to make minimum weight such that both sides weigh the same....

I've used the string method and didn't care for it. I used to use homemade trammel bars, but now use Longacre toe plates: http://www.longacreracing.com/catalog/item.asp?id=152&catid=5" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; If you don't want to spend the $60, you can easily make...

My Z06 is long gone, but I still have the suspension file with the various recommendations. As you say, aren't sure if they translate to a non Z06. But it sounds like you already have similar info.

Re: Suspension Guru's........
Yeah, that sounds like an okay plan. I guess I had two points. How will some alignment expert at a shop know what previous top competitors have evolved to, alignment-wise? And two, will you feel comfortable changing his alignment yourself if you didn't do it, and may not be able to reproduce it? Hen...

Re: Suspension Guru's........
I think you guys have it wrong. There is no alignment god...there are no correct alignment targets. Camber, toe and ride height are variables that you should be using to get the car to behave the way you want it to. When my Z06 oversteered, I lowered the rear only about 1/16th inch, making a noticea...

Re: Buying a helmet
Be aware the Snell 2010's are just hitting the shelves. If you buy an 05 you'll lose 5 years of life. But you say you want an SA so I assume for something other than autocross. Some sanctioning bodies require current Snell issue, so be careful what you buy.

Street class rains
Just out of curiosity, is there a hot setup for rain tires in the street classes? Every other category has purpose built rain tires. But none of the top streetclass rubber seem to have much of a tread pattern. I'm sure they still work well up to a point. But beyond that point?

Re: 02 Mustang GT classing and tire size
Why not longer lasting Kumho 710's ... at his and the cars stage of development I've never cared for the concept of developing a car on one tire with the intent of competing on a better tire. But 710's are also excellent tires for heavier cars. National results would generally favor Hoosiers. It's ...

Re: 02 Mustang GT classing and tire size
If you want to run street tires, CST is for you. Other than tires, it's virtually run whatcha brung so no need to worry much about legality. And not being a national class brings the advantage of lower-pressure competition. But there is no counterpart class in national SCCA rules, so you won't have ...

But what's with the CPM Results ... "2nd place" Don S. has more points then "1st place" Bill M ... another very close Championship ... 0.659 separates them. The reason I was ranked first prior to resorting is I was leading the class after 10 events. And then I won the 11th, fina...

Re: Windows down to autocross?
Regards safety...SCCA RallyCross, a similar sport with a slightly higher chance of rollover, mandates windows up, or no more than 1" open. This to minimize chances of an arm getting caught under the car in a rollover.

higher energy chemical mixture than gas In what way? Gasoline is significantly higher than alcohol in BTUs/lb. Was checking out the data because I need a new muffler for my Lola engine swap. From what I see on your first overlay graph, the blue line is best or tied for best all the way from 3000 to 6500 rpm. Don't get tied up in that torque vs power thing...they're both the same but dressed up differently. W...

Re: SuperTrapp Advice, or ... ?
A tail pipe all the way out past the bumper will help with on-road noise. A clamp on 90 will help with the SD sound meter. Don't know what you run but maybe a quieter muffler is in order. I've had success with quite inexpensive DynoMax "Welded Series" straight thru mufflers (14" x 9&q...

Re: 2009 Lone Pine Time Trials
Apparently all moot now. Due to other reasons it can't be a Solo Trials and will now be an autocross, so more cones and lower speeds. Hopefully those in power will confirm. But I thought Appendix C referred to the GCR. No Rick. GCR is road-race...Appendix C is a way toned-down solo spec. A few basi...
