Re: Opinions On Breaking In a New "Baby"
If someone handed you the keys to a brand new Evo and said, "It's yours, but you have to drive it for the next ten years," would you follow this method? Yes. Of the 3 vehicles I've gotten to drive with new engines, two ran flawlessly(broke in by running what I would normally do any day of...

Re: Biennial Smog Check
Are all pre 76 cars exempt from smog tests? What if the car was once tagged as a gross polluter? How far back do they keep records? Car was tagged gross polluter in 96, put on non-op and hasn't been registered since. But I hope to change that by may 2010.

It's not that they are unreliable, they just require some tlc... Weekly if not Daily ;) But it's all about the joy of driving. Other than having to buy another set of tools (Whitworth wrenches and sockets and British Standard taps and dies) they are very simple to work on. The 74 may not need Whitwo...

Awww man Coffey comin' in with a dose of reality... :( I really should just get it running and drive it, or sell it; anything would be better than letting it continue to rot on my side yard (at least it has a hard top and a car cover). I just have a hard time because it has so much sentimental valu...

Re: 2009 Lone Pine Time Trials
this was the largest Lone Pine I had been to. It was great to see everyone out there. The battle between Bret in the GS Acura and Mike in the AS Evo8 was classic. They both drove awesome. The civic finally killed off two of its tires after 3 years of multiple drivers. I'm glad to hear most of you ha...

DM with a F20C or EM with either a turbo 13B or an SR20DET. A 4G63 isn't a bad choice either.

Re: hey Steve, look what James Wilson got
The T2 block is quite a bit stronger than the T1 block, but the common block is the strongest. Some guys in Canada ran a common block with the factory rods and crank in their Charger drag car. Last I heard, they were making in excess of 720hp with it. I'm not sure if a standard T2 block would hold t...

Re: hey Steve, look what James Wilson got
It's too bad those 275/15's won't fit under the front fenders if he wants to turn. Even with the stock 205/50/15s of my GLHS, you couldn't do tight turns. The tire rubs on the transaxle on right turns. Unless someone recently started producing clutch type diffs for the A555, his only choice is a Qua...

Wish I could, I work from 10pm to 6:30am.
I was just wondering if these are the same type of trucks as CORR used. CORR ran at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds once, I wanted to go, but I was busy.

Re: 2009 Lone Pine Time Trials
since all prep and mod cars need rollbars and a harness, can I run STS instead? My civic is less prepared than most other STS civics. Only thing that keeps my civic out of STS normally is the D15 motor swap. But I'll be on old Azenis RT-215s. They did 20 runs last year and 8 runs the year before tha...

I was driving a 1985 Chevy Camaro 2.8l V-6 in TGS(T = the street tire class in Oregon Region back then). I was working at the local Toyota Dealer in the service department. M-F 7:30- 4:30. Some Saturdays I'd come in and do PDIs. Weekday lunches usually consisted of Subway(across the street) or McMen...

when we used to get stubborn beads on tires we used to bounce the wheel on the ground for a minute or two. rotating as we bounced it. if that didn't work, we'd take a big deadblow hammer to the tread over the area where the bead didn't seat. one guy did it with more that 45psi in the tire and when t...

I'd love to be an engineer. At work the engineers get all the fun. No speedlimits, full use ...

I've driven down a road like that "Silver Creek". It's fun till the vehicle goes airborne, gets sideways and breaks the suspension.
