Re: I'm interested in buying a Miata

"In 2006 the LSD was a stand alone option so you may find it on a car without the sport package." Indeed. ANY 06 could have had the diff added, so you can have a 5-speed/LSD combo in any trim level that year, so you could buy a base bucket (5-speed) car and add the diff. I'll tell you what...

Re: Okkk so I got carried away - now what class are we?

What SCCA road racing class is this built for? There are rules that allow some of the road racing production/GT/ST cars into Auto-x Prepared classes, so maybe that would work for you?

Re: August Fastrack

Some cold-air intake kits require you to remove the hood prop rod (thew old Jackson Racing CAI kits come to mind) so maybe it is some way to block a modification on a particular make/model? Having watched rod-propped hoods fall on people's heads on windy days, I would argue that the gas-charged unit...

You can add them (under C&C) but heaven forbid you take that six ounce metal rod out, or it's off to Prepared you go!

And NO SOUP FOR YOU!

Re: August Fastrack

I'm always curious at the politics and agendas behind these things. Personally, I think all letters should be public so we can see who is driving these changes. Yeah, nothing like wrecking another class and driving more people out of the sport. STCivic does just fine as it's own class... why are we ...

Corn starch. Rub it on your exposed skin before you start working with the 'glass. Keeps the fibers from sticking to you.

Re: Ignition Switch Re-program

If you have a new key module, it comes with a new code that must be entered into the vehicle's ECU before it will work.

If all you need is a new key, there is a way to "clone" a blank key with the car's current code.

Re: Ignition Switch Re-program

Once you replace the hardware, the car will not start until the programming is complete, so you have to 1) have the car towed to the shop/dealer or 2) have someone come to you.

BTW, those old caps are hard to come by... American changed the bolt pattern of the cap in about 1974 so any new caps won't fit. I went through that when I tried to fit a modern set of low-profile caps to my '66, so I ended up having to have them re-drilled.

The 195 Toyo is the only one that works all the way through the tread... 205 and 225's all lose a second a lap right about 3-4/32's. If you can afford to buy new tires more often (I either sold mine at that point or used them for practices) then they work fine up to that point.
