Re: Course Finish Standard

As a relative noob, I've been hesitant to contribute, since it looks like a lot of people had the same opinion as I did. However, I felt compelled after a few responses I saw, so here goes... My experience has been that if drivers are given any "room" past the finish, many of them will sta...

Palero's Audi

I love that thing. Under braking it dives better than Greg Louganis and has more body roll than a sumo wrestler! It looked like a complete blast to drive! And I loved the three-person ride-along on Sat. What? You couldn't get a fourth to go with you?

Re: Requirements for Visitors/Passengers for Practice Events.

Keep in mind that any minor that is going to be in a "hot area", (grid, course or in a car) is required to have the SCCA waiver signed by both parents. Thanks for the heads-up. I've got that covered, as his mom will be delivering him. I should be able to find an SCCA member somewhere to s...

Re: More New Vehicle Talk

FWIW, the 120d I have pictured above comes right off the konfiguator at 30,775 euros. If they offered the same, for the same price in 'merican money, I bet they'd sell a lot. I bet they would too. But at the current exchange rate, that's $47,472. A tad steep for a 5-door compact. That's the problem...

Re: More New Vehicle Talk

If I had 25K to spend on a Mini S, I might be inclined to spend the extra 5-10K for a 128/135 Ah yes, but you gotta 'member that's a total stripper (ever been on a BMW lot and tried to find one of those?). You'd be paying close to $10K more for a real-world 128 and $15K more for a real-world 135. T...

Re: More New Vehicle Talk

Yup... The hatch competes to directly with Mini sales.... It may be intended by BMW in their wildest dreams to compete with Mini sales (though probably not, since they own Mini) but the 1 is a different type of car and in a completely different class. One of the big gripes about the 1 is it weighs ...

Re: Requirements for Visitors/Passengers for Practice Events.

Passengers are okay during practice, X runs, and fun runs.
So my 12-yo son Max can go with me on X runs? I was told no Sun. runs at all, only Sat. practice. That's awesome!

Re: More New Vehicle Talk

From what I've read, the D has so much torque, it's very close in performance to a gas engine (though probably not the 335i, which kicks ass). Problem with the D (depending on your proclivities) is that the engine song isn't as melodious, since you're shifting at MUCH lower RPMs.

Re: How to get good gas mileage.

And that stoplight drag race today that flung my blackberry out of its tight cubby and into the back seats probably cost $30. Ah, 650ft lbs of oil burning torque.
Attaboy! F MPG. I'd rather embarass the a-hole in the tricked out Integra by whupping his ass in a 4-door grocery mobile. :mrt:

Re: Alonso to BMW??

GOD I love Kimi! F1 needs more of him. Harkens back to the James Hunt party-til-you-see-triple-and-puke-then-party-some-more days. My fave image of Kimi was when he was driving for McLaren and (as usual those days) his ride crapped out at Monte Carlo. He didn't even bother going back to his pits; he...

Re: How to get good gas mileage.

I think I like power too much to buy a 40+ MPG econobucket, and autocross is only once a month. I'm just not cerebral enough to make maximizing my MPG a game. I'm a caveman who likes bright, shiny objects and gets off on speed. The Infiniti gets horrible mileage, but I drive less than 12K miles a ye...

Puerta Vallarta in July (gonna make me miss the divisionals, but I think I'll survive).

Napa later that month.

San Diego for a week (while my kids are in day camp down there) in August.

Hawaii in Sept.

Bummer is I hate heat and humidity, so I'm gonna have to drink my way thru PV and Hawaii.

Re: F1 Spoiler

For Kurt - Lewis crashed into the back of Kimi because he didn't notice the red-light at the end of pit lane, taking both of them out in the process. Thanks, Larry. Guess that's karma for Kimi's taking Sutil out in Monaco. I can hardly wait to see the replay so I can replay the incident a few times.
