Re: Size: 285/30R18 (24.8" tall) or 315/30R18 (25.6") for GT3?
I got the response from Peter. They ran the 285/30R18, they never tested the 295. Per his words, the 315 made the car numb and it wouldn't rotate. In their back to back test, the 285 was almost 2 secs faster on their test course. They tested 245/285 and 245/315. Probably the newer 255 (should be ca...

Re: Size: 285/30R18 (24.8" tall) or 315/30R18 (25.6") for GT3?
I just emailed Peter to check on the tires that Ian ran. Let's say they ran 245/295, is it better to run on the heavier and taller 255/315? Marshall runs 285/30R18 on the Evo instead of 295/30R18, and they could use another 2 mph in 2nd gear, the BSP Evo is heavier and has more torque than the 996 ...

Re: Size: 285/30R18 (24.8" tall) or 315/30R18 (25.6") for GT3?
Pretty sure Ian ran 295's on Peter's car because it behaved better. That's the problem with the 285 - just not forgiving at all of any mistakes, and heats up too fast on the back of such a heavy car. Off course, this is offset somewhat by the gearing advantage of the short tire in slow corners, whic...

Re: 2010 SCCA "Dixie" National Tour Results
Har, har! ;) I may have had a softish PAX at one time, but I bow to the Master: Mr. Kiesel!  ...or Mr. Larsson. No kidding, the Larssonmobile was 1-3-5 in overall PAX for the event Sunday in SD, with Kiesel relegated to 2nd again (Jeff had mechanical issues that limited the car to 1 good...

Re: SportsCar Cover - Mar 2010 (Jeff Kiesel)
Congrats Jeff on getting the cover photo shot of SportsCar as you drive your Sprite for the EM (E-Modified) class. My guess it's at the San Diego National Tour. clearly you are guessing wrong. he doesn't have enough mufflers on it to be in SD. hahah Don't be so sure - his latest SD setup looks just...

Re: Set-Up Guru's ?
Not a (intentional) hi-jack. As long as we're talking set-up with a C5 - I think my setup needs some help and unlike the Z06, to some degree I'm in uncharted territory. My hardtop has '04 Z06 shocks, Z51 (stock) front bar, front tires are 275-40/17 on 8.5 wheels, rears are 285-30/18 on 9.5 wheels. ...

Re: Set-Up Guru's ?
I'll refine Marshall's comments slightly by pointing out that toe-out will heat the inside edge, and toe-in will heat the outside edge. Every properly setup car I have taken temps on showed mildly higher temperature on the inside of the fronts, mostly because of braking. Keep in mind this is for car...

99.9 percent of the time everything they recommend to the BOD is passed, since they aren't usually solo people. Pretty close to a done deal. With the S2000's moving to BS, I can't figure out who (locally) will be left in AS. Anyone know? Is this the yellow brick road for Gary Thomason ? As if he ne...

Cliff Note version: Argued kid carts would slow down event by being slow, ego reality was an unlicensed pipsqueak could take TTOD away from those who have held it since Adam & Eve. This is actually a pretty decent summation. Add a little 'what we did in the '70's' and you have it. nalbar Um, so...

Then BSP would have the correct PAX (tougher than CSP) and all would be right in the world! Well, fix EM and probably FSP, and then everything would be right. P.S. I never really said that CSP's PAX was that off for '09; what I DID say was that BSP'S is DEFINITELY OFF!!! :D Ummm......well...

As far as I know the car has always had yellow Koni singles on it. When it is working like this car does, you don't mess with success!

Super !!! Audi R8 in Super Stock. Nice looking car, depreciating as fast as GM stocks, AWD, V8 and available manual transmission. All the camber you need, as it uses spacers on the wishbones, the 60 lbs exhaust can be removed, and lightweight wheels and sway bars are available. Great! I hope you an...

Anyone know if Dodge Vipers are any good in the rain? :unimpressed: I've experienced some really nasty weather there before. It will have to be pretty bad to top previous low points. The key is to not be sliced in half by the 10x10 corrugated metal sheets coming off the old hangars and blowing acros...
