Re: Looking to be schooled on NA Miata

I would gladly like to take you up on that offer, given the nature of lemons, and the fact we're already in a cheater car(Miatas, Porsche, RX7 and newer BMWs are given a harder look by judges) I don't think I could get it to pass the smell test even if I could prove in every way it was free.

Re: Looking to be schooled on NA Miata

The motor is a junkyard motor so I'm sure its just a stock 1.8. Kinda shocking to think that it lasted a whole season even after 240k miles and abuse. I've followed what the eyesore guys have done and getting the ECU tuned for the turbo scares me a bit, as far as reliability is concerned. They also ...

Re: Looking to be schooled on NA Miata

-It has the steep 90 final drive already, I can put the 4.7 fd from the Kia Sportage, its something we've been considering but with the local tracks I'm not sure it'll help. -Milling the head is something that might happen with the motor being out right now but with Sonoma\Seca coming up we might no...

Re: Looking to be schooled on NA Miata

We have something like 4 sets of daisys on hand. Rims are open but it certainly eats into the racing budget.

knock on wood, its held up for 220k miles and a season of 24hr races so I'm hoping it stays together.

Re: Looking to be schooled on NA Miata

No turbo, car owner doesn't want to risk the motor. All the bushings are poly, its got the 1.6 open rear diff with the 4.30s and the 1.6 clutch and flywheel. We do get some shoulder wear but I don't think that's something I'm going to be able to fix. Are the S package shocks any good? I would like B...

Looking to be schooled on NA Miata

The team I race with in Lemons is a NA Miata 1.8. Looking to get all the info I can about those car, i.e. parts interchangeability, whats likely to break, what I can cut off, where can I get power, what go fast parts are worth the cost, etc. This is a Lemons car after all so anything requiring big m...

Re: October Fastrack

I'm glad I can finally legally modify my rear alignment now. Isn't the z's problem gearing related? I don't think it has a hope in hell in STU along with the Genesis, not sure about the rationale behind that, I don't think the genesis can even fit 285 on the front without a tire sticking half an inc...

The data graph is added with the video itself its not something I add after the fact. Plus the video files are AVI and don't always play correctly in quicktime.

Here's the video flipped.

Re: AX'ers GoKarting ....

Managed to get 1 lap of Bill Kreigs 1st heat data in before the battery crapped out. Bill managed to place 2nd overall. Those little karts almost hit 50mph, and you can see just how effective drafting is compared to running in front. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8_oIJxPgCI&feature=youtu.be

If your not running hoosiers or R comps, your car would be a really good fit in CST.

Re: Any advise on Hankook Ventus z214?

Thats basically all I'm planning on doing with the kooks. I'll probably end up on BFGs or Hoosiers once I get some more seat time and confidence in the car.

Re: Any advise on Hankook Ventus z214?

I'm mostly concerned with road racing, since this car is being built for a specific class. I wasn't sure if the Hankooks were like the Hoosier R6 or the BFG R1S tires.

I didn't realize that was Pete with the red helmet, I was doing a good job catching up to him right before I took a big spill into the wall. That basically ended up run for the day and got me the DSQ.

Re: Checkin In and Sayin Hi

Not many people in Cal Club run SMF but there are a few in San Diego. Most of the FWD cars that would fit in SMF run CST(one of the biggest classes overall) which is a local street tire class.
