Searching for an open seat for 7/6

Hi all, The car is going in for repairs next week, and won't be out until after next weekend, so if anyone is looking for someone to fill a seat, I'm your guy. I'd prefer something in the morning on street tires, so that narrows it down to S1, STS, STR, or STX. The afternoon may end up working, but ...

Re: Miata Misfire - P0303

You guys are making it really hard to justify sending it to a shop. If I had a place with a private garage, there would be no question. I guess my biggest fear is not finishing the car and having to leave it in pieces overnight, or for several days if I have to order parts. I've never removed a head...

That's the correct class. Perhaps Kurt will chime in about the points card.

Re: Miata Misfire - P0303

They quoted me 12 hours of labor @ $100/hr, and $500 for machine work for the head. Called a couple other places that gave more reasonable quotes, so I'll probably send it elsewhere tomorrow. I agree that doing the work myself would save me a lot of money, and I would love to do it myself, but I rea...

Re: Miata Misfire - P0303

Tri point got around to the leakdown test last night, and sent me an email today. Cylinders 1, 2, & 4 are good, and 3 is leaking through the intake valves. Their quote seems kind of high, and they really took their time getting around to the leakdown test, so I'll probably end up taking it somew...

Re: Miata Misfire - P0303

Dropped the car off with them tonight. I think I spoke with Scott (long haired guy, really nice). They're going to do a leakdown test and give me an update.

Re: Miata Misfire - P0303

Even if I were able to locate the leak, I don't think I'd be able to do anything about it. I'm limited to small jobs, since I park in a parking garage, and can't really leave the car taken apart for an extended period of time. :( Has anyone had experience with Tri Point Engineering? They're like a m...

Aaaaand it's back. Off to the shop now I guess. I wish I had a garage so I could do these bigger jobs myself.

Re: Miata Misfire - P0303

Seafoamed the car earlier. It still ran rough for about 5 minutes afterward, and threw the code again. I cleared it, and drove around for about 4 miles, and it didn't come back. The idle seems to have smoothed out, and the exhaust doesn't smell strongly of fuel anymore. I'll do another compression t...

Re: Miata Misfire - P0303

1, 2, & 4 all looked fine, but #3 was a darker brown and had more carbon build up than the rest. It was also wet. These plugs were pretty new, only about 5 months old.

Re: Miata Misfire - P0303

The verdict is in. Wet numbers were similar, so at least the problem is in the top end.

Miata Misfire - P0303

Hi everyone, Need some advice. Car is a 2000 Miata, and has a cylinder 3 misfire. Things I've tried so far: -New plugs & wires (old ones were only 10k old, #3 was wet and smelled like fuel) -Switched #2 & #3 injectors, code stayed with #3 -New coil pack -PCV valve has 5k on it -Cleaned EGR v...

I've heard good things about the Kumhos on heavy cars. Apparently they love heat.

Blew it so badly in the last third of the course. I'm in the upper left, my codriver is the main screen.

June 7-8 El Toro Photos & Videos

For once I actually sat down and posted my videos right away. Run 4: 62.051 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIUCKZOUEnk Run 2 (with a spin): 70.140 - This one was called as a DNF, but I thought I re-entered in the same spot I left. No biggie, wasn't my best run. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LW04q...

S1 is a combined Street class that includes SS, AS, BS, & FS. CAM stands for Classic American Muscle, and includes all front engine-rear drive American made cars over 3000 lbs on street tires.

Re: Running El Toro Tomorrow?

CTS-V can run in either S1 or CAM in the morning, not sure where the Volt would fall though. My guess would be it would be OK, as long as you get OK's from others in the class, and talk to the event chair.

Anyone have an open seat on Sunday morning?

I'm chasing a misfire in my car, and may not be able to drive it tomorrow. I have seat lined up if it comes back, but my codriver doesn't. Does anyone in one of the morning run groups have an open seat for him? He's a fairly good driver, and can probably pay for your lunch, or your entry or somethin...

Re: WTB: Single MSM rear Bilstein shock

Got a great deal on the three with only 3,100 miles on them. Even buying the fourth brand new, I'd still save more than 100 bucks over buying a new set of Bilstein HDs. Just seeing if there's a matching single one out there with low miles before I buy the new one.

Re: WTB: Single MSM rear Bilstein shock

Tried them, Project G, and Static Nine in SF, and no luck. Also waiting on a response from the Miata/Corvette place in N. Hollywood. If I can't find anything else, I'll just order a new one through Mazdaspeed.
